i have been going heavy on all of my compound lifts, under 4 reps for the past month and half. last week i began to notice that when i would really push hard my chest would feel tight like as if my heart was in a vice for a few seconds...any idea what this could be? maybe going heavy all the time is taking a toll and i need to change it up
its just a tightness for a second untill i stretch it out and it goes away.
could it be stress? i have some personal issues (health, going to the dr) issues going on and im stressing out waiting for results (the test has to do with my platelet count)

GO TO THE DOC! ! !
Better he tell you that you're a hypochondriac than he tell you you need a bypass!
WAY too many stories like this that went bad.
Get it checked out!

i have been going to the doctors the past 2 weeks for other issues and im very worried about it. (they say my spleen may be enlarged which is NOT good) paired with my gf who is a nurse in a cancer hospital, my stress level has been elevated to where its never reached before

I would go to the doctor just to be sure but it sounds like you may have strained some of the muscles in the rib cage. I did this before and felt the same thing you are feeling. If I go heavy for too long, I get the same thing but go to the doctor to be sure.

There ya have it!
I had a nurse freind tell me once to NEVER self-diagnose! Hey, that Doc gets paid big bucks so make him earn his keep!
Kidding aside, please take it slow until you see an MD and get checked out.

Doctors have discovered that my spleen is definitely enlarged and they see a vascular mass on it. I am going to NYU for an MRI.
WTF is going on?!!?!?!?!

Thanks guys. Im nervous. An enlarged spleen + low platelets doesnt necessarily mean bad...but we need to look into this.

You prompted me to do some research last night about this. You're right to be concerned as the worst case scenario is certainly problematic but if I can offer some advice:
I'm a former professional musician and a former on-air broadcaster. Plenty of opportunity for stress and nervousness. Now, saying this to a "stranger" may come off as "sure, easy for you" but I mean it earnestly:
Learn to put stress/nervousness aside- it's useless. We'll all face challenges, fear what a change might bring. The first time you can say to yourself, "you know what? It's just something to deal with" you'll feel great, and you will have overcome stress in most situations.
Be confident, see this as just another opportunity. Persistent optimism!
Hell- it works in lifting, it will work in everything else.
If I could wish it away for you I would but just take a deep breath, smile, say it's no big deal, and work it through.

thats some great advice and i take it whole-heartedly.
right now, i have cause for concern, but not panic. panic is useless and causes more problems.
im taking everything as it comes to me, and like you said, when the new challenges arise, ill face them head on and deal with them. im not going to get googleitis and look up every symptom because there is NO definitive answer as of yet.
hopefully the MRI tomorrow will clear up some clutter

Well- according to your avatar... maybe it'd stop hurting if you stopped jiggling them so often.
