I'm having a few stomach issues right now and going without sugar AND artificial sweeteners(Diet Coke and gum especially) has seen me drop fat fast(unintentionally). My only starchy carbs come from rice, spelt bread, and sweet potato and I'm feeling a whole lot better than I was before. I had to do it cold turkey based on doctors orders and I was concerned at first but I feel healthy and fit apart from my gut issues(which I am seeing a specialist about next week). Cutting sugar is not a bad thing but I'm from the school of allowing a sweet treat every now and then(if that works for you)?

But this is not SODA or Doughnuts.. Its just milk.. OK. lets just agree to disagree here.. Its just my opinion that when someone is just dieting (Not contest) that there is no need to take skim milk completely out of the picture on day 1. It is healthy as well as a decent protein source... Soda has NO place in a diet. Neither do doughnuts so that makes total sense to me.. I mean, I dont even drink milk, but I see no harm in the beginning stages of a diet for someone who does... SODA = Junk food DOUGHNUT = Junk food Milk = Junk food

No one ever said dieting was easy and this is why 65 to 70% of the American population is overweight. Of course milk is not a donut and it is better for you IN MODERATION just like anything else in life. Post workout would be great and I did say that above. I myself would just prefer to eat something like oatmeal then to drink my food but to each their own.

i thought that drinking milk will actually help someone gain muscle. i have read many studies that suggest this as well You are definitely correct in this and I would keep it post workout. I just think getting rid of the other two servings and replacing them with low GI carbs and some solid protein source would better help you get leaner if this is what you are trying to do.

My 2 Cents:
Just to add on to what Eric said, read the label AND.....
[glow=red,2,300]Look at the serving size too![/glow]
IF it states 100 calories per serving, DO NOT just think it's 100 calories. The Label may state that the container = 2 SERVINGS. If you eat the whole thing, you are getting 200 Calories.
Ditto on fat, carbs, protein, sodium, etc.

I'm coming in a little late on this thread, but I figured that I'd add my two cents just the same. First, in my own diet I usually try to cut out as much dairy products as possible because I want to get as close to "competition" condition as I can even though I don't compeate anymore. HOWEVER, I would also add that if skim milk was the "WORST" thing my gym members consumed when they are on a diet I would be MORE THAN SATISFIED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Vin.
