After my ridiculously long contest season, it feels great to be able to eat some food with substance to it.I`m going to train a lot heavier, slower, and basic over the course of the winter, in an effort to try to climb to the higher end of the middleweight class by my next show .I compete at about 165 and I`m normally around 178 ,so I know if I eat like I never have before I can easily put on 12 pounds.I know it won`t all be muscle but I hope to diet down to a heavier thicker physique.I could probably add 10 of the 12 pounds to my lagging legs and back muscles alone. ;D I`d like to go to 190-200 and diet down to a rippped 170-175.I think I can do this as my body has been dying to grow all summer.I kind of grow in spurts ,and I think I really held myself bac as far as dieting goes.Gotta go eat a couple of pizza`s talk to you later.

So what does your off-season diet look like? Do you bump up the carbs now or are carb sensitive? What are your macro ratios?

Ed, For a week or so I will eat whatever I want, to kind of kill off any cravings, and get them out of my system. Then I will eat 6 times a day, with two protein drinks thrown in for good measure.I will eat clean for the most part, but I will now add more red meat ,carbs, dairy products, and fats to my diet.I think it will look something like 40-35-25 as far as macros go.I`m not nearly as picky when I eat in the off-season, and I think I`lll take in anywhere from 200-300grams of protein per day, with various amounts of carbs on different days, still kind of cycling them but in a looser manner.I will also eat at a buffet type restaurant once a week .I really need to up my bodyweight to be competitive. If I see myself adding too much bodyfat I will adjust accordingly, and add some low intensity cardio to the mix. My training poundages have fallen off considerably from the long diet,so I will train much heavier and with less volume on basic compound movements.

Jeff,I`ve only gained about 5 pounds so far.I really didn`t go too crazy with the post-contest gorging. In the past after show`s, I would eat so mucjh that it looked and felt as if I had swallowed a basketball.I have only been as heavy as 178 in my entire life ,so it`s time to blow right past that, but I`ve got plenty of time to do it in,without pulling a Gary Leonard!! Remember Gary gained somnething like 54 pounds in a week? Crazy!!I`m going to train like a demon all year and hit the NPC mAster`s ationals with bad intentions when I turn 50 .I`m driven brother!! ;D
