Alpha Male, I worked for Herman`s Sporting Goods for 4 years and also worked in the Sporting Goods Dept. of Lechmere stores for a year,so I know a little about the quality of some fitness equipment.Judging solely by the pictures ,I`d go with the treadmill,it just looks like a better peice to me.I Personally prefer Eliptical machines, but just going by the pics here, I would say the treadmill is of better quality and would probably present less problems for you.For some reason the Eliptical Machine just doesn`t look like it would hold up under even normal circumstances.Just my opinion! Good luck.

Tim, I like the Treadmill also, but the main area of concern for me is the warranty. The Elliptical has a 1 year limited warranty and the Treadmill has a 90 day warranty. Another area of concern is the Treadmill has a 250lb weight capacity and the Elliptical has a 275lb weight capacity. I can get a 10% discount on the Treadmill because I have a buddy that works at Walmart. ;D Taking all of this in account, what would you do?

Good points, taking your weight into account plus the warranty the Eliptical is probably your best bet.Although you could drop a few pounds before you purchase either and opt for the treadmill with the 10% discount.Sounds like an acheivable goal to me.Judging by the pic I get the feeling that the Eliptical just isn`t good quality.Just my opinion ,you really can`t go too wrong as either one is a good investment towards losing bodyfat, and good cardiovascular health.

Hi Belle!!Being the first woman poster here we were going to give away a brand new Tunturi Eliptical Trainer but since you have one already we`ll keep ours! ;D I no longer work in sporting goods but from my experience Tunturi makes/made good bikes and steppers. They didn`t even have eliptical machines at the time.(1983-1987) Besides for that kind of money it better work great or I`d be really pissed off! I hope to see ya here again.I know we don`t have the "secret" forum here but it`s still good.If not I`ll see ya over at IF.

I just came back from the Oshman's to test ride the Elliptical and I must say that the ride was shaky. The parts on there were loose, which was a bad sign. I remember when they had just put it out there a few months ago. It seemed alot more sturdy then. I'm going to roll the dice and get the Treadmill. Hopefully, it will hold up until next year. Then, I plan on getting a Keysfitness Treadmill. They have a Lifetime warranty on the frame and 10 year warranty on the motor for $1,000 which is a DAMN good deal. Income tax time 2005!! ;D ;D ;D

I think that`s a good choice. All I had to go by was the picture but it did look a little flimsy.Income tax returns are a good thing!!

I love eliptical machines, they burn some serious calories, plus you can go backwards on them and work a totally different set of muscles, I do the mountain climbing section and can burn 1,000 calories in an hour.

I came into some unexpected money and bought a Trimline Treadmill. It has 20" x 57" belt with 2.5 HP motor. Get this! It has a 30 year warranty on the frame and the motor. It only costed $ 1185. Now, compare that to some crappy Proform or Reebok Treadmill that costs more, but ONLY has a 1-3 year warranty. I'm a VERY happy man!!! ;D ;D ;D
