Whats everyones thoughts on doing cardio on leg days? My thought is that it is to much on the legs..Am i wrong? Its at times the only time i do not do cardio.
On sundays my cardio varies. If i hit it in the morning i go about 3/4 intensity as not to ware my legs out for monday. An if i hit it late at night i go 1/2 intensity. Bad idea or good or doesnt matter?

I'd say that it depends on how much cardio you are doing and just how much work your legs can take themselves, as not everyone's muscles respond in the same way. That said, I would say that as a general rule, it's not a good idea, as it "chews" up too much size in the legs!!!!!!!!!! In order to get in shape this year, I had to double the amount of aerobics that I normally do every year, so after a few weeks I decided that I would just stop doing legs all togeather because I could feel that they were getting over fatigued doing both. When I diet I give priority to aerobics, so that's why I decided to keep the aerobics and cut the "direct" leg workouts. I don't compete any more, so I can probably get away with that. you would probably be best off yourself with cutting out the aerobics on leg day as you can't compete without a nice set of "wheels." I will say for "the record" however, that I don't think that I really lost any leg size at all this year, keeping the aerobics up and just leaving the legs alone seemed to do the trick. Vin.

I do it-sometimes! Usually close into a show because by then I am training 6 days/week and doing more cardio. what I usually do is do my cardio in the morning and then train legs later in the afternoon-that way my legs don't get 'too' tired

No reason not to do cardio. I would not suggest doing a huge HIT routine though. A walk at a good pace on a treadmill will be just fine, in order to get in your cardio and have it NOT be detrimental to your legs. I did 50min of cardio, after an hour and a half of legs for 16-18 weeks of dieting last time, and my legs are my best body part. But, it could be genetic, or the fact that I only walked on the treadmill. Since it's easy enough, just put one foot in front of another.

Thanks Everyone. My cardio consists of a high incline walk(10%) at 3.8mph for 45 minutes. I may just cut that back to 5% at 3.3mph post leg workouts just to burn more cals yet taking it somewhat easy on my legs..

Walking MAYBE! I sometimes cant even do my daily walk. Way to painful. Maybe earlier before legs would be a good idea..

You can't walk anyway old man!!! Now go change your tennis balls, they're due for their replacement after you walked from your bedroom to the kitchen for the 1,000th time.

Steve, I would say that it depends of your priority! Mine is legs, so I prefer not to do anything that POSSIBILY COULD get them tired... and put my mass gain at risk!
That being said, If I had to do cardio on legs day because my priority would be on fat lost, I would do it as Youngblood said... very low intensity (even if for the other days, I highly believe in HIIT Cardio session).

Im curently doing 45 minutes HIT 6 days a week. With no cardio on leg day. But i was thinking since it was Nationals if i should kick it to 7 days and just try to do some easy walking on leg day. I dont want to ruin my legs and over train them. However I do want to make a good showing in October and be freaking lean as hell. 8 weeks out today so maybe i will try to get some pics up to get your guys input on and what i might need to do...
THANKS EVERYONE FOR YOUR INSIGHT.....GREATLY APPRECIATE IT!

Hoops, honestly, no way you should be doing HIT 6 days a week and NO WAY IN HELL you should be doing HIT for 45 min. HIT is meant for 2-3 days per week and 15-25 minutes. That's it. Bro you are going to eat your muscles right off your body and you're going to be in a constant catabolic state.
