I was told recently bya friend that he read where vitamins will not digest as well when they are consumed with oatmeal. Any thruth to this.
I heard you should not add protein powder with oatmeal.
is there anything else that should not be ate in the same meal with oatmeal? Thanks.

well i know heating up whey can denature it, making it more difficult to diggest, but i don't see adding whey after you cook your oats to be a huge problem

whey protein has already been treated significantly to make it edible and digestible-it does not denature as easily as some people suggest. If you want to use a whey specially for cooking with,Optimum Nutrition make one called Any Whey.

The smart thing is to add the powder after you cook it. As far as not adding whey to oats, it's suggested to not do that by some diets, I think even the "Cut Diet" becuase of thinking about when/why to combine proteins/fats/carbs... but that's generally getting very "contest diet" critical... and I've never been at that level to know whether it would be adverse, at least for me. As far as it hurting absorption? Tell it to Vitamin B1:

The only thing I can think of is that you may want to get your whey protein in as fast as possible (ie: after workout). and since oatmeal will digest more slowly, may inhibit that digestion process? I'm not the best guy to ask about nutrition , but that's my best guess!

Yeah, I am kind of skeptical about the oatmeal /vitamin claim. I'll keep taking both at the same meal I hear something that convinces me otherwise.

As far as I know, no foods adversely affect vitamin absorption... in fact, some of the fat soluble vitamins actually are absorbed BETTER with a meal. All I know is that I take my multi every morning with my oats and eggs and i have never had any reason to think it doesn't get absorbed... (the highlighter yellow urine helps me think that...lol)
