What are you guys thoughts on EAA's and the popular trend to add them to your during workout nutrition. It's also recommended to supplement them between meals. I know Milos talked about this on Bodybuilding Radio and Phil Heron recommends them to his clients. There seems to be some great feedback out there.
I've ordered the Optimum Nutrition's Vassive EA8 to try during my workouts, but what are your thoughts?
Thanks everyone

I think you'll find Randy is using the Primaforce/Scivation EAA as well as Xtend so it might pay to ask him. Personally I find the Xtend sufficient for recovery and aren't sure whether adding in any extras will benefit me more or not. I also find the cost prohibitive so probably won't add any in at this stage.

I'm going to give it a shot in about 2-3 weeks, the theory is sound and certainly makes sense (have the nutrients in the blood/muscle during the most anabolic time of day...during the workout!). Here's the product I was thinking of using, since it's liquid and only uses the 8 EAA's. But I didn't know about the Optimum EAA's product till I read your post. I'll also look into the Xtend product too....

I drink a NitroG (Animal/Universal Nutrition) during every workout. I love it and can feel a difference when I don't drink it.

XTEND ROCKS! I wish I could mix like 12 scoops in a gallon and just sip it all day like an IV Drip of BCAA

I think it's a great way to "bridge" inbetween meals, and that's what I use them for, especially when I'm dieting and not taking in a lot. I use them in the "catabolic window" time frame between meals to make sure that my body doesn't start to "chew" muscle on me. I know people who take them with meals, but unless it's an all carb meal I think it's a waste of money to take them with food. Vin.

I haven't even bought a supply yet. Since I've been traveling out of town so often, and most often with very little notice, I am not going to give the method a shot till I can make sure I devote a 100% to it...meaning no missed drinks while on the road because I could get back to my room, or somebody stole my powder from the car/hotel room, etc... I'm hoping within the next month or month and a half I'll get the word I'm home indefinitely and soon as I hear that I'm buying me some and y'all be the first to know the outcome!

I don't really grasp the point of supplementing EAA's while on a high protein diet.

I don't really grasp the point of supplementing EAA's while on a high protein diet. At times, pre-workout and/or post, it's beneficial to have extra BCAA's in your system. For recovery purposes, and studies have shown that the body will use the BCAA's for energy over carbs when they're in the system. I like a high protein diet myself, but I still find myself progressing much better when I ingest more BCAA's than what I would normally get from shakes or whole food.

I just ordered my EAA's, though I won't get them till probably late next week. Not sure if I'll be able to use them for another three weeks (to coincide with my phases properly and be able to tell what part of the program is working- the weights or the EAA's or both...). Here is what I went with: www.trueprotein.com/Product_...id=25&pid=6818I went with this for a few reasons, in no particular order. 1) Bulk, I'm not ordering a month supply or two because I had to adjust the dosage. I can buy by the pound and take however much I feel. 2) I can flavor it myself, though I'm still unsure how I will do this. Probably just mix it with Crystal Light like I do the BCAA's. 3) Finally, True Protein has service and quality I've grown accustomed to. On a scale of 1-10, they are at least a 9, just missing a ten because I wish they had more flavors- and I'm sure they're working on that for the future.
