Optimum Nutrition if you want to stick to name brands. However, TrueProtein makes theirs and I've purchased them in the past with no regret. Great product, excellent service, and it's just as good-if not better- than anyone else's BCAA's (or other protein related products for that matter).

I buy lemonade 9 times outta 10 and watermelon for a change of pace. Personally- I've found Aminos to be the best supplement I've ever used. I've dropped everything else except the occasional whey/casein, etc.

I've never tried any BCAA's supplements… but you people make me think about it. Youngblood, I know you are a huge fan of it… what have been the most significant benefits of it for you? I Mean, if you ingest enough protein (Amino Acid), why would you need it?

I Mean, if you ingest enough protein (Amino Acid), why would you need it? Xtend is a precise, scientific blend of Energy Aminos consisting of the proven 2:1:1 ratio of Branched Chain Amino Acids (L-Leucine, L-Isoleucine and L-Valine), Glutamine, Citrulline Malate, and Vitamin B6 that will give you the energy you need to maximize your training while enhancing recovery at the same time. The advanced components in Xtend have been scientifically proven to help speed recovery and enhance ATP production and promote cell volumization. Avoid fatigue by blocking entry of fatigue-inducing tryptophan into the brain. Increase protein synthesis, immune function and digestive health. Promote vasodilation which can lead to better assimilation and absorption of protein. Elevate growth hormone levels. Sounds good

For me, I notice fullness, and most importantly- better recovery. I'm very active through the day, and I think BCAA's really help with recovery. Up at 3am, in bed at 9pm, and in between I'm playing guitar, gym, my job is highly active, and I tend to "work hard, play harder." I DO NOT measure it out, I just have a teaspoon before and after my workout, and one before bedtime. Of late, I've been doing the Milos style shakes, so I would have close to 2-40g per day (15-20 before and during workout). This past week, I had to take off again because my work was killing me (two 10 hour days, and a 13 hour day...no lunch or eating at all in this time, just all hard and fast work...our second busiest time of the year), and I haven't been able to eat well enough, of course I didn't try hard enough but I digress. Point being, I certainly feel different and I think a lot of it is the increased carbs, lack of protein, and also- not taking in enough BCAA's.

What are the best times to use them and what is the optimum dose? Definitely upon waking up, certainly if your breakfast is a shake. And before bed,pre-workout too. For how much, I generally like to have a teaspoon that's more of a "heaping" serving, but pre-workout as well as post-workout I take a tablespoon. Use Crystal Light, or a fruit juice (grape, orange etc...) or even Kool-Aid to flavor them...trust me! You will want to flavor them! However, Crystal Light works best as there are no added calories.

I got the capsules, so flavor isn't a problem. They sell it in powdered form also. 4 capsules(1 serving) has ... L-Leucine 1200 mg L-Isoleucine 600 mg L-Valine 600 mg

Personally I prefer the powder, because that way you don't have to swig 8 different pills at once in order to get the dose you want. But I did use the capsules prior to using powder (that's how I came to that conclusion). I guess it's preference really.

Like anything else, Trish, too many calories will lead to hindrance of fat loss. I seriously doubt that would be the case, if you compared BCAA's with say Reese's Peanut Butter cups (but I like the latter a bit more!). I don't think you have anything to worry about.
