For chicken I like cubing it up and marinating with Frank's Red Hot. As for steak, Mcormick's makes a steak rub that's pretty good. This one is in the recipe section a few pages back:
Orange, Honey, and Ginger-Soy Marinade:
1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce 1/2 cup orange juice 1 tablespoon finely minced, fresh ginger root 2 cloves garlic, finely minced 1 tablespoon honey
Whisk all the ingredients together in a bowl. Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes or overnight.
Note: Use to marinate chicken, fish, beef, pork, tofu or vegetables. Do not re-use marinade. The possibility of bacteria build-up is present.
Makes 4 servings.

I tried it a few weeks ago on my chicken and it was pretty good although I am not a huge fan on ginger
