hi everyone! I am busy writing articles for my website, mainly directed at competition prep for women so- what would you like to see in the way of general contest info? I have done one on skin preparation and tanning(which would include physique ladies) but would like to come up with some different topics. I am currently writing one on Hair and Makeup(for figure) and will follow up with one on Shoes and Costumes(for figure) Anything you would like me to cover that isn't too scientific?? I'm no Layne so unfortunately I can't provide that kind of info-just my personal experiences which i gather is what people want to hear???..... Thanks

Hi Beck! Not one of the ladies, but I have worked with many amateur and pro. A list of "No-No's" might be good. Kind of like a "things-to-do" and "things-not-to-do" list. A girl at my gym listend to a "evil" trainer who had her carb deplete for contest, but never carb loaded! She worked very hard for over a year, and stepped on stage flat and smooth. She placed 16th, and was VERY disappointed. She fired her trainer the next day. I've also seen a lot of info on what to pack and have ready for a contest. I think for the ladies, that list can be quite extensive. I have also worked with a pro figure competitor who had a baby. Came back and took 4th at the Olympia! So perhaps a section on that would inspire some questions. Just trying to help out

Thanks so much Frank.. i hate those trainers that carb deplete their clients for weeks on end!! #smileyonsoapbox4jy# and I also hate trainers who spit out the same diet and peak week regardless of gender, bodytype etc...

Hey Beckie, I'm in the same boat as Karrie and as much as I would love to compete one day, it will still be many years down the road.

Well,if you WERE to compete, what would you LIKE to know?? From a FBB point I'd want to know about posing, suits and music. From a figure point stances, hair extensions for women with short hair, suits/shoes and walking across the stage.

This might be TOO general for what your looking for Beck, but I know a lot of Female bodybuilders who are concerned about the unfair treatment women get, compared to the men (ie: prize money), and the future of womens bodybuilding. This can spur a lot on conversation about how to prepare for contests in the future. Just another thought

OK, how about explaining the difference between body building and figure, how do you know which one you should go for and then what category? I look at competition postings and it seems to vary, by age, by height, by weight. What are the guild lines? Is there a height that is considered too tall for female competition?

Here's another one. How about the financial break down of what preparing and entering into a competition could run you?

Unfortunately this is the issue with most sports the men dominate with the dinero and the women get paid less!!! #rantingsmiley2sx# #bheadbangsmiley7rd# It will always be that way especially in this sport!

Karrie...good idea about the financial breakdown. Some of the ladies posing suits can go from hundreds into a thousand dollars. You can buy them used too. Shoes, hair, make-up, tanning, travelling, hotel, registration fees, association dues for membership, contest prep. If your into fitrness, music, choreagraphy.....and goes on and on.
Then of course when it's all over.food, outfit for the after party, etc.
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ cha-ching!

O yes,my first comp I spent close to 2K(NZ) and my 2nd probably about 1500-thats cheap compared to what some of my friends spent-$400 for ONE suit(800 for2),$150 for shoes,$300 on tanning,$150 on makeup, personal trainer $1000,$50 membership fees,$300 travel and that doesn't even include food!!

WOW!!!! That is EXPENSIVE!!! This was for figure or BB?? I know figure, from what I have heard and read is much more expensive than fbb, not from a food stand point but other areas.

That was figure Karrie and yes some girls go way over the top... I think its because figure has such a strong presentation factor involved.

That was figure Karrie and yes some girls go way over the top... I think its because figure has such a strong presentation factor involved. My husband said the same thing, some girls go all out b/c of the presentation factor!!! I did read an article about preparing for figure and I thought it was a little exaggerated but I guess not!! I also have read that some girls have hair extensions put in, that is something I'd have to more than likely do, my hair is just sooo thin and does not cooperate well. I thought of something else you may want to talk about in the make up section-include fake eye lashes. I read on Mayhem that some girls use these for obvious reasons, but one girl was seeking advice on how to stick them on....can you imagine not getting them on right and having them sticking to your cheek or something....lol!!!

I have covered them in one article but I've suggested instead of going the whole lash route,to just put several in the outer corners to 'lift' the lids-much easier than trying to glue them on when carb depleted!
