It all depends on how much muscle you have gained over time.
You will most likely not look like Zane or Robby ,but you can definately compete in awesome condition.
Shoot for a certain lean bodyweight as a goal, but go strictly by the mirror.
If you arten`t cut and defined the way you should be for a contest weighing 195,you may have to lose a bit more weight to reach peak condition.
Remember, bodybuilding is about creating an illusion,at times you can be fairly light, but look much heavier, as each bodypart stands out in bold releif, devoid of fat.
They don`t weigh or measure you on stage, so just try to keep as much muscle as possible, while dropping as much fat as possible.
The mirror will let you know if you`re in good contest shape or not.

muscles is DA MAN! 20 pound drop off? You COULD do it brother! I started at 175 and I'm only down about 5-8 pounds! However, I was coming off 2 surgeries and I was MUCH smaller and MUCH heavier than my usual self, but you can do it!

Tim is totally correct about the illusion thing. I use to cocentrait so hard on coming in at a certain wt. and I would do ok but now I just diet and go by how I look and I have been coming in 2nd and 3rd in all my shows. To give an example I weighed 141 April 1 show and the cut off was 143 I took 6th out of i beleive 11, The same type of show last month I came in at 131 pounds and took 3rd. I got the score sheet and I was only 3 points away from first. GOOD LUCK!

You need to compete at around 3-5% if you want to do well. Lets go middle ground and say 4%. That means you need to lose 7% of your bodyweight. 7% would be about 15 lbs . -Layne

Excellent advice. Go by the mirror, not by the scale. I have seen many guys blow their conditioning because they were obcessed with being a certain weight on stage.

This is all great advice. Mirror should always overrule the scale. I've seen guys in mw who looked like light heavies because they were ripped and full.
Through diet and good poding technique you create the necessary illusions. The mirror should be your main prep gauge.
