This is one thing that I focus on with all of my competitive clients. I have them ready to step on stage a full 2 weeks before a show. It is within these final 2 weeks I am able to focus soley on filling out their glycogen stores, recuperating their muscles, thinning their skin, and dropping their sub-Q water. If you are still struggling to get lean enough (read: losing body fat) in the final 2 weeks you will not be at your best. Not only is this very stressful on your body, but your mind as well. Sometimes when a guy or gal's BF % is low they may still not look completely ripped because their muscles are not full, and their skin has not had time to "shrink wrap" to the body 100%...but this can all be avoided by being ready 2 full weeks out! Just a little tip...

I completely agree, better to be ready early, than to try all the little last ditch efforts some employ in an effort to play catch up!!
Things like sh*tloading, sodium loading, carb depletion, carb loading, and fluid maipulation, aren`t gonna` make any difference at all, besides except to possibly make you look worse, if you aren`t already in contest condition!
These tactics only prove effective if you are shredded with very minimal bodyfat!!

So true. I advise anyone I coach to be stage ready at least 10 days to 2 weeks before. Less stressful.
There were a few I advised not to go on stage since I knew they would not be ready. And they weren't. But thought it was better to be honest than set them up for a big fall later.

The last two weeks are HELL. You're tired, stressed, having fantasies about food (one time for me it was that I was laying in a bowl of enchildas!), trying to maintain work and the rest of your life while peaking. There should be no last minute changes. It's already a time when you're second guessing yourself, your physique, your posing, your routine, everything.
I usually take the last week off from work because God knows no one wants to be around you at that time! LOL. I spend that time resting and focusing.

I actually set my contest training and diet schedule to peak at two weeks ahead of the actual contest date. This has always worked well for me and I've never had to go through any drastic measures to be ready at showtime. The last 2 weeks are strictly for "fine tuning".
