Just wanted to get an idea of what everyone thinks is the hardest part of prepping for a contest....For me personally I had a lot of fat to lose and had to do so much cardio,, that was absolutely the worst, HIIT cardio....,a close second would be the shaving and tanning application the last week while being very nervous....i didnt find dieting impossibly hard because i never cheat off season, so i never get those bad cravings, and found a lot of tricks to help with dieting....
Anyways whats the worst for u?

I think I'm with you as far as diet. I don't seem to have a problem sticking to something like that. I actually didn't mind cardio, either, but that's probably because I have a treadmill at home. If I had to go to the gym for cardio I probably wouldn't do it! I'm just not that motivated I guess... Shaving and tanning sucked. I had to apply my tan and it just seemed to be very messy and time-consuming. I think shaving was the worst. I'm Italian and have a fair amount of hair. I'd shave and it seemed like the next day everything grew back.

1.-Cardio 2.-Low carbs, and monotonous eating 3.-The head games I play with myself at times wondering if what I`m doing is working........things like, am I gonna` be ready on time, or did I lose too much size,I feel weaker during training................etc. etc. 4.-Shaving sucks too
Actually,I guess none of it is too much fun! :Bad Day:

yea bob, it must suck being hairy and havin to really concentrate on the shaving..... cardio is relative to the intensity your doing it,, when i did cardio pre contest it was always HIIT, and that is pure hell if your pushing yourself hard, now i do low intensity cardio (off season), and i actually enjoy it
Tim you are so right about the mind games!!!! they are terrible,, i always need to have an objective eye tellin me everythings ok or not...lol most of it isnt fun, but we all know its well worth it

Definetly the cardio for me. Although I can use that time to veg out and practice my posing routine in my head.
The diet is pretty easy for me relatively speaking. I do better with blandness and consistency. When my diet varies too much my willpower does as well.

Even if i will look bizarre: 1- Tanning ;D 2- Having nightmare about being on stage with hairy legs ;D 3- To be perceived as a freak because i eat Chicken and brown rice EVERY DAY! 4- And more seriously… not be able (for 4 months) to have a good diner with my girlfriend in a great restaurant (Wine, pasta, cake, etc) 5- And like Tim said... that mind game! (Thinking about it every minutes: In my car, at lunch time, during my TV program, at the gym, in the midle of the night, etc) Mo

wow thats interesting, u hate the tanning too....I decided a while ago i would never lie in a tanning bed again, and then Peggys post on muscle mayhem just reinforced that feeling...
i have to laugh about the dreams, sometimes i would dream that i cheated my diet and ate a pizza, wake up in a cold sweat, and be relieved that it was only a dream...

And to make sure that you have the right tan for the contest, you only use a lot more tanning cream? If you have great advice that can help me eliminate the tanning bed, i will defenitively use it Mo

i was planning on using the mystic spray tan as a base, id get that a few times a couple weeks before the comp. ,, then probably 5-6 coats pro tan....probably wont look as good as the real thing, but after talking to the competitor that had cancer removed from his face 3 times, ill live with a less than perfect tan

Cutting the water!!!!!!!!!!
Everything else I can pretty much stand, but takin' out a mans water is the worst feeling in the world.. I don't care if it's for 6 hours or 6 minutes, gotta have aqua.. When that drops that Friday AFT before a show, yikes!!.. & sucking on ice-chips just doesn't cut it, I get so friggin' dry-mouthed it's not even funny.. LoL!! .. not to mention thirstier than hell... no water= bad bad mood!!................................................Ez!

Yes, for me it would be the mind games as well. On the morning of the show I usually say "OMG should I have stopped taking in water at noon or 6pm last night)...lol

In Order from 1-5: 1. The strain it puts on my wife (not being able to do certain things or Always traveling w/ 2 coolers and not ever being able to take her out) 2. Mind games definitely I'm a head case 3. SHAVING 4. Cardio (towards teh end of prep) 5. Carb depletion and how tired you get the LAST week

For me it's the diet 1st, The endless cardio. If my trainer would have been at the gym yesterday I would have kicked his @ss for coming up with the program i did. Thought I was going to die and last the tanning and for me it's waxing ouch!!! Although Olympic tan goes on much easier than Protan and not as messy.

Jen does it a couple times, goes tanning 2 x per week for about 3 weeks. Then its one coat of pro tan and waaalaa. finished product.
