Well, it's that time again. Began my diet (16 weeks) for the Canadian Nationals on Sept 3rd. 242 lbs -- Starting cals: 4,100 %50 starches/veggies and %50 protein (and incidental fats). Though my calories will likely adjust, each day will look very similar to this (and yes I do have many other options of WHAT I can eat but due to the volume of food, making something different is very time-consuming so I save that for weekends when I have more time): meal 1: 16 eggwhites 2 scoops (ounces) oats 3 ounces shredded wheat 1 cup milk Meal 2: 9 oz chicken breast 3/4 cup rice 3/4 cup corn Meal 3: same as 2 Meal 4: same as 2 Meal 5: same as 2 Meal 6 same as 2 +: 10 cups salad, 2 tblspn MCT oil (vinegar, herbs) No condiments, no sugar/salt added. Supplements (I don't recall the volume but they're all ample dosages: Multi, B-50 X 2, Cal/Mag, Vit C, ECA Projected stage weight (i.e. after water drop) is 207. The last two years, my projected stage weight was 5 lbs shy... we'll see. These are my trainers (four seasons running): www.bodyby24-7.comT

I'm curious do you need 16 egg whites, wouldn't 10 be enough? which would be 60 grams of protein roughly? Just asking. thanks in advance.

Hey guys... ntrliftr, yup, like Max said. I go by protein calories (2100, presuming it's chicken breast, egg whites, specific fish, etc. -- and it ALWAYS IS). I can mix/match however I want, whenever I want. I could eat 100 for breakfast if I wanted (1700 cals) -- but it's smarter to spread it across the day so I'm not hungry and thus avoid dips and valleys in energy and, of course, it helps avoid cravings. 16 is enough to make me full. No other reason. Actually, I drop out dairy at around halfway so I'll likely double up on the whites to compensate (hunger-wise) for the missing cereal. Or, I'll eat oats... we'll see. Both maybe Intensity, that would be too cool man!! We'll hafta' hook up and hit the buffets after the show, LMAO!!! Thanks for the push Tim. I've been moving over the last week, so have missed a couple of workouts (then again, I made up for it while moving...). May 30, current weight 236. Still very strong... it'll pass, LOL! Unfortunately, I'm only half moved. Our stuff is in storage at the in-laws' place. We're supposed to get posession on Friday, then I'll have to finish the move. My computer is in a box collecting dust so I only have internet access at work until next weekend (I hope no longer!). T

Thanks bro!
Heh, remember, those cals are just a starting point and will NOT stay at that level. I will be adjusted as I go along, dropping by 100 - 150 cals (2/3 carbs, 1/3 protein) until the scale is moving as required.
It's how the process goes.

Well folks, I'm out. We booked our tickets last week (in the middle of moving) and the flights to Montreal combined with a few nights will run us around $3k. I'm dedicated but not THAT dedicated. After settling into our new home, that's pretty much our profit (beyond paying out all our bills, mind you).
Next year, the nationals are within a four-hour drive. I've already chatted with the association president and he told me if I write a letter outlining some of the difficulties I've had this year (he already knows them), he's pretty sure he can get my bi extended. If not, I'll have to requalify a couple months before the show.
So, nothing like Tim for years at-it, but after four years in a row, a year off might do me some good.
Pretty bummed about it, but that's life.

Right, I'm not spending $3,000 to step onstage... I'm not THAT dedicated or rich.

Troy, The time off from competing will be good for you. Train and grow into an even bigger monster than you already are, then come back and shock the hell out of everyone!
