I need your guys opinion on what type of rep schemes I should be using during my workouts right now. I currently do one core excercise pyrimiding down to 6-8 reps. I keep the rest of the excercises between 8-12 reps with drops sets and some burnout sets included. I just want to come in really in top shape. Well conditioned. I know with my quads I have had to increase the reps way up to start to really get the results that I was wanting.

Sounds like a good plan as you still want to go heavy during your prep, plus you need intensity techniques such as drop-sets etc.,in my opinion.
Don`t need them, but I think that they do help.

Have you tried tri sets? I did a good one for my delts last year:
Smith Military press DB lateral raises DB front raises
1 min between sets,I could barely lift my arms after!
I also do negative hammer curls-start at the top of the range for a change!
