I'm curious to know what style you pose in? Some use the classic artistic poses a la Zane,Reeves etc whilst others use the more hardcore style of Ronnie et al...
My trainer likes me to pose 'like a girl' but I would be keen to stick in some more hardcore stuff next time around.
Personally I think a bit of both is about right because a whole routine full of 'pretty' posing is a bit 'gay' and a whole routine of most musculars and abs is pretty boring!

I mix in the two types...I hit a poor mans Zaneshot, and later a crab most musccular.
If I practice enough,I`m a pretty good poser..........I usually don`t though to be honest, but I`ve done so many friggin` contests I look decent poing with very little time spent practicing for the most part.
For this contest coming up,I am posing nightly, working on smooth trainsitions and trying new shots.

Good for you, Tim.
Randy, with more experience you will figure out what works best for you. With new athletes, I always preach that less is more and simple is better.
Nothing wrong with straight forward if you display your physique well. With more experience, you can inincorporate different transitions, etc if you feel comfortable with the.
BB athletes are continual works in progress.

I use both classic and hardcore styles… but Chanman is right, the importatnt thing to remember is that it's a show so when on stage, give a show and show the audiance you have fun up there! Too many athlete seem to forget that...
Both style can be good, but whatever the style you choose, i believe in using a theme to entertain the audiance and score more points! In my last 4 contests, i used classic and hardcore styles mixed with different themes: Flintstone, Price is right, Macho and teacher theme!

Great point, Pro Mo!! As you become more experienced, you usually are less nervous and better motivated to try new things. If you're having fun and making it look easy, that is a contagious felling to the audience and judges.
At a masters show i was at, one competitor used Popeye the Sailor Man and it was great. Be willing to experiment and practice.

I think your posing style has to be something you are extremely comfortable with. I've always liked more of a classic style posing with music selected to slowly build and as it does your posing also increases in strength... if that makes sense.
A friend of mine convinced me once to do something more hardcore/rap like which I did but did not feel comfortable doing.
I like to "feel" my music and typically once I have selected my music I'll just lay down and listen to it over and over again to get a feeling of what and how I want to protray my physique.
I'll then close my eyes and pose to the music and let it control the poses I select. It works for me!

I agree with you on this, (as usual, LOL), I think some hardcore stuff in a womans routine can really get the crowd "jacked," which is what the "free style" round is all about. If you are looking for suggestions, my favorite to "throw in" a womans posing routine is the "most muscular" ("crab" ) pose. If you bring your arms down really slow and then just "cramp" down on it as hard as possible when you bring you knuckles togeather, I can GUARANTEE you that the crowd WILL go wild!!!!!!!!!!!! Vin.

Good points all around. One reason I always liked Betty Pariso is that she has fun with all her routines and also gets the audience involved. Her Matarazzo crab shot is a scream. And since Lee Priest is short, she does his victory pose on her knees!
Randy L is right; have to do what is most comfortable for you and use music that you can feel motivated by.
