Since it's on season time once again, my mind is into it… and I have this little interrogation...
So here is a quick survey: What is your best pose and what is your worst pose? Why am I asking that? I'm just curious to see if we'll have many different answers or if the majority have the same best and worst poses!
I would say that the pose I'm the more confident with is the Abs and Thigh and at the opposite, I never like to compare myself on stage when it's time to hit the front lat spread. What are yours?

I think my best is either a front double bicep showing my quads or a back double bicep showing my upper back. I believe my worst is defiantly front Abs & Quads BUT....this is my FAVORITE POSE ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I find side chest the easiest but back is definitely my best My worst,probably side tricep because it feels so awkward and I have fat triceps!... #arollseyes3zc#

From a coaching standpoint, front lat is the toughest one to master. Takes a lot of practice. But if done right, can be very impressive on someone with wide lats and narrow waist.
Many I've worked with and seen also have problems with the ab/thigh. Again, position is very important. tensing the back and keeping elbows high and close to your head will show abs to the max.
What could be a best pose for one athlete could easily be a worst for another.

I dont like any of them, but if I must:
Best = Side chest
Worst = Hands on hips

Thanks for your input!
So for now...
Best - Abs and thigh - Back double biceps (3) - Side Chest - Front double biceps
Worst - Front lat spread (3) - Abs and Thigh (2) - Side Triceps - Hands on hip
... interesting!

I guess that the Front lat spread is the worst pose for many of us beacuse a bodybuilder needs to have very thick muscles (almost IFBB pro size) in order to look impressive when he hits it! For some other poses, a striated muscle, good definition or some great lines can compensate and it can still look impressive!

Honestly I'm not bragging but I feel pretty confident in each mandatory pose. I did get a lot of good coaching early in my competitive days though. I think the trick is to make each pose your own. Slight body position can make or break a pose for any individual. I always studied Frank Zane's poses closely, he wasn't as big and thick as most of his competion but the way he positioned himself for each pose it was a work of art.
Favorite poses Back double bicep front lat spread side chest thighs and abs
worst side tricep ( I need more thickness in my triceps)

We need to slightly adapt the poses according to our physique's shape! By the way Joel, I think that you pose very, very well in general, but your side chest, back double biceps and hands on hips are more than AMAZING!

I think that you are an excellent poser yourself especially the enthusiasm and the way you express yourself. Very entertaining!

You guys hit on some really good points! The mind is the most important muscle you bring to the gym and to the stage. That is what I preach to anyone I post.
If you are enthusiastic and energetic and personable, that will carry out to the judges and audience. having confidence in yourself and practicing the basics go hand in hand, and practice shows.
Joel and Mo, from what I have seen you are both terrific posers!
