Hey, registered here a month or so ago on the advice of Tim. I love it! Great quality info. Finally have had a chance to surf around and give some input. I'm a PE teacher in Ohio and I coach baseball. I'm 24 years old and I'm looking to start competing this October! Any and all help and criticism is welcom. I'm a member here and at the vpx board. Glad to meet everyone!

Thanks guys! Teaching's a good profession. It has it's tough moments. Like the last few weeks and next 2 to come. The kids just want to get out of school and Sophomore Phys. Ed. is meaningless to them. That's why I'm excited about moving to the elementary school next year where I can make a difference. I am going to miss Just Fit though. This is a class for upper classmen where we discuss nutrition, fitness, disease prevention, stress, exercise, stress management and take numerous field trips to keep the kids learning and interested. It's a great great class. In my opinion, Health and Phys Ed at the High school level should be Fresh and Soph and be taught like Just Fit and should be 5 days/week for 2 years. My opinion. This stuff is more important than some of the stuff they do in science and math for the most part, eh?

Well, when I was in school, we had "Gym" class 5 days a week every week.

Former math and English teacher, but think PE is tougher. Continued success,
What are your competition plans?

Gerry,
Hey, thanks for asking. I was planning on competing in May (this month), but in October at my biggest ever (185 @ 7-8% bfat) I got a hernia and had surgery on Nov. 28. I took off 1/2 of Oct all of Nov all of Dec and started back up in January plannin on competing this October. IN February, again, I got a hernia (another type and different place). I'm having surgery on June 21 and I get marrie din July but I'm hoping to hit a show Oct 9, 16, 23 or in November. Right now I'm about 10-12% and about 175. I feel real good though. If I don't think I'm ready I'll regroup and go for a May show next year. That should give me enough time to get up to a weight so when I cut down I'm 170 or so and a BIG middle weight. Any thoughs?

Kyle,
Congrats on your forthcoming marriage. Sounds like you have a full plate this year. Maybe next would be better. More time to prepare physically and mentally could only help.
Feel like talking strategy, send me an e mail. Also coach competitive posing. So when the time comes, can assist with nailing mandatories and constructing a routine if you want. Good luck.
