I just wanted to introduce myself and thank Tim for invite to this site. I have visited quite a few times in the past but Tim made a couple of good points and I decided to stop in and hopefully become one of the family. A little about me: I have competed a few times in the past and while I never intended to be stepping on stage it just sort of happened. I am desperately trying to kick myself in the rear and keep a much more driven attitude toward my workouts and not slack off wich is so easy to do sometimes. I kcick myself for knowing how much I could have improved if only... I am 32, 5'11" and as always a little too fat Currently I reside in Ohio and I do some traveling for work so don't be surprised to see a post asking if someone wants to catch a workout in whatever part of the country I am going to. Well I am a little late for my workout - tonight is by myself so no one will be too pissed. I have a couple of pics from my last show and I will be checking in later if I can get my home computer up and running. Sal

Glad to have you with us Jeremy !! #awelcomesmiley4jo# Great shots.......looking very impressive!!#acoolpics0ui# As I told you, there are lots of competitors here, and a ton of good info.....we also try to keep each other motivated. Starting a training and diet journal helps a lot because people will give you honest feedback, which helps you stay on point. Again, welcome to the board, and I hope you enjoy it.

Nice to have you here!!! My husband and I live in Ohio. Any competitions around the Akron/Cleveland area that you have competed in? My husband(mrbig7 on this forum) just competed in the Natural Ohio last month in Cleveland. We also had three friends of ours compete in the Mr Canton last month as well.

Thanks all. Kari - I have competed in the Canton twice. Last year is when these pics were taken. I took second in the HW and there is a good story to go with thatI will have to post later. I know Tim has heard it about the way the scoring went. I also did the Canton a couple of years ago. Who were the three people who did the Canton - did you got o the show?

Sal Sal, Al-a heavy weight-he won the entire show this year-the masters, Hw and the over all. A guy named Paul he was a MW-sorry unsure of Paul's first name(he is pretty young), and a guy named Kirt(Again unsure of last name) he was in the masters. We were unable to attend the show but Paul is bringing us the DVD this week. We heard some things about the judging of that show as well. We all work out at a small little hole in the wall gym(the best kind especially for women called Tough Bodies. Are you competing in any upcoming show in the area? Karrie

Heck Karrie - We are only a few mintues away then. Actually a couple of other guys I know are talking about making a visit over to Tough Bodies to get some pictures for the IronAge site.
I actually got to talk with Al for awhile after he won the HW class. My training partner and Al have known each other for years. Small world isn't it??
I am not doing any contests this year. I am regrouping myself for the Canton next year. I think I need to work on some areas and if I compete too often it never really gives me a chance to make the changes I want.
I don't know the other two names you mentioned but Al was very impressive even if not a very pretty physique he was LOADED with muscle.

Sal, What did you think of the other guy who took second place to Al? It was our understanding that quite a few people thought he should have beat Al, but over all Al has more muscle, but we agree not a real pretty physique.

Well, I didn't want to say anythingbut since you brought it up... In my honest and humble opinion Al should have been in third. He just looked so out of proportion, had a HUGE - and I mean HUGE belly. And his shape is downright bad! Now please don't think this is a knock on AL at all. The guy was freakin huge and cut. And one of the nicest guys to talk to. When the HW came out you knew from the placings of the masters class that Al had it but I personally like the look of Todd who came in second. He just didn't have the leg size but he looked so much better. No gut, flowing lines and in condition. He was a bit thin from the front to back, when he did a side chest or something he disappeared. It was said he was 6'4" or 6'5" and came in at 255. Now take Al who is 5'6? and came in at 225 and you have a world of difference in thickness and muscle per height. The guy in third was very good also but he was doing the Mike Francios 2 weeks later and wasn't in the best shape. I just had Al in third by personal preference as I don't think a belly that is hanging out past your chest should be in the top 5 period. I guess the judges were just awarding the muscle mass that night.

Hey All, I'm one of the two other guys that Sal Paradise (Jeremy) is talking about that wants to go and workout at Tough Bodies (and take pictures for Ironage and here too). We've got to keep pushing Sal to train for next year's Canton. He has the potential to take the whole thing and more!!
Tim, If you're serious about the Canton next year, you must stay at my place! I'm just 5 minutes from where it's held every year. We could catch a workout at World's here in Canton and maybe compare abs ;D Mark

I`m very serious Mark......getting tired of competing in the same old contests each year........gotta` branch out.
I have competed in 7 different states and umpteen cities, but I gotta` branch out if I can afford it.
Was actually gonna` do the Canton contest this year but I found out about one in Buffalo NY and did that instead.
We can compare abs but not after the contest because I may make several pit stops to Dunkin Donuts and McDonalds,Wendys,I-HOP,etc. etc. etc. etc.etc.etc. ;D

If you guys train at World Gym in Canton, you guys have it made!!!! If my husband and I lived in Canton we'd go to Worlds NO problem. We tried to check it out one night but they were already closed. Tim if you did the Canton Terry and I would be there for SURE!!!

Karrie - I have no intentions of training there permanently. We just want to stop in with another one of the guys who works out there sometimes and check the place out. I can't give up where I'm at now it's very old school and I don't get charged a membership or monthly dues. Plus I can walk there in a about 5 minutes. Bluevan and I just want to hit some of the old school gyms in the area and document them for others to know about and enjoy.
Tim - if you are going to do the Canton we'll have to get together and plan a get togther if possible. How far of a drive would it be for you? I know Buffalo is just about 3 hours to my place and Canton is about 30 minutes more. If you want to know a little about how the show is run I can break it down for you. There is no typical prejudging - it's all done at the same time of the "night" show. There's also a coupld other little things I can go into if you like, just let me know.

Sal It is an Old School gym...hard core, I love it....just needs a little TLC to the building and a few new things....counter balanced pull up machine...would be AWESOME!!!! You'll see when you check it out!!!! What you are doing (documenting)will be helpful to the place, maybe bring more people to TB...although Barberton is putting in a new YMCA, modeling after the one in Green here soon....owners are afraid it's gonna pull members away. Hope not, it is a key gym..which is nice.

My gym is a key gym as well. It just works so nice that way. I have been toying with an idea that I may just post on this board for feedback. Something to get local BB's more involved with the bodybuilding camaraderie of old - or at least what we think it should be. I need to talk to Tim a little first.
