Thanks to Ken B. for most of these pics!! Here`s a shot of Boyer at 43 years of age in the 1978 Mr. Olympia contest. Not too shabby ! I`ll add more tomorrow.

One of the best ever. Although his biceps were amazing, he had no real weaknesses and had good symmetry. And also an outstanding poser.
He was competing in open and masters events into his mid and late 40s. An inspirational human being.

I always enjoyed reading Elliington Darden recounting Boyer Coe's lifting exploits at Nautilus with Arthur Jones. Some of the routines Boyer went through were just amazing - chins with 60 second positive AND 60 second negative motion. Followed (with no rest) by biceps curls, then on to dips with 60 sec positive AND 60 sec negative motion immediately followed by tricep extensions. Incredible.

Chris,During the mid-seventies I had the pleasure of seeing Coe in person as he guest posed at the Mr. Massachusettes /Mr. Worcester contest held at Mechanics Hall in Worcester Mass. I had always been a huge fan since I started training and when I finally saw him dressed in a black Gold`s Gym warmup suit,I thought to myself"This is Boyer Coe...he look`s small as hell" !! Well after I went backstage to listen to him as people and contestants asked him questions Boyer started stripping down to pose and beleive me when I say that after the suit came off he looked like he had gained 50 pounds of muscle right before my eyes. He did not look remotely big in this track suit but he was huge and in contest condition. His legs looked like carved marble pillarts, freaky calves, tiny little waistline and the best arms I`ve ever seen . I am still in awe of his physique and to this day he impressed me more than anyone I`ve ever seen and I`ve seen Arnold in 1974 and Coleman too a few years back!!

Two of the best sets of split peaked biceps in bodybuilding history......Albert Beccles and Boyer Coe!! Tim,do you know when this photo was taken? (great picture of two fantastic champions) I know the caption comments on the Masters O, but I thought Boyer competed in 94? (maybe 95?,96?) I don't recall Beckles competeing in those? also, great story about Boyer Coe. Bet you are glad you didn't tell him you thought he looked small when you first saw him!
