I recently tried to squat without any padding on the barbell...with 35lb plates on both sides. And OUCH!! I was wondering..is there any practices that can help me get used to the pain of the barbell? I know pain is normal when going raw barbell...but is there somesort of practice to help me get used to it? I really want to try going raw..

Max, its a matter of a couple of things. 1st, keep trying, you will get use to it. 2nd, theres what they call high bar squats and low bar squats..low bar is more of a powerlifters postion, the bar rides right below where the traps attach.**this,if done incorrectly can force you to squat leaning alittle more forward if the wt you are using is too much** High bar squats, the bar rides on top of the traps, which can cause some amount of pain, but done through time and cation, you can get used to them.pick one way to which you are going to use more ''proper squatting form''. hope that helps

Adding more meat to your frame will help with this pain.

haha..i don't feel the pain anymore...well..i still feel the bar...but i barely feel anything. Maybe because my back was still a bit beat up from the back workout. I'll still keep practicing with the raw bar ..and putting on more plates everyweek so i get use to it...
