Hey guys, I've started experiencing pain in my knees immediately following my leg w/o. I'm wrapping my knees but it appears to be stemming from squats. I don't go a$$ to the ground - just parallel. Should I reduce the weight? Any help would be great.

I'm not an expert, but if it's not about rest, i think that you should try something before it become even worst: reduce the weight for a time, just do something else than Squat for a couple of weeks, warm up a bit more… the pain will maybe disapear as fast as it begin! I hope everything is going to be correct soon… Mo

Thanks Mo. I did take a week off about 3 weeks ago. The pain has just started though. What would be a good alternative for squats for now? My present quad routine looks something like this:
Hacks 90 x 15 - Warm up 180 x 12 - Warm up 270 x 10 360 x 8-10 360 x 8-10
Leg Press 540 x 8-10 630 x 6-8 720 x 6-8 360 x max
Squats 180 x 10 270 x 8-10 270 x 8-10 90 x max

Could be the hacks that are the culprit. I had some knee pain for a bit in my right knee due to bringing the wrong sneakers for squat day. They were elevated in the back. Useless $110.00 pair of Nike's. I can only squat and dead in flat sneakers. Anyway. I just keplt going so I am no good for advise here I guess. I would not use wraps though. Just my opinion. I think that they prevent your ligs and tends from strengthening as much as they could be. Just like a belt. Your back never gets strong with a belt on. I anloy use one on Max lifts. Maybe a bit of rest. 2 weeks. Come back and start with squats rather that hacks. Personally, I would just come back squating only. Doing 5x5. If you feel like that is too little than do squat + leg press. Both in 5x5 fashion. You may aslo want to try some Aleve for the inflamation.

Thanks brother! You know what, I just included the hacks in my routine. I think you are on to something. I use wraps only because my knees are a bit screwed up from high school football but they are only used during squats. I may just take quads off this week and give my knees a rest. I'll come back with some lighter squats and lighter leg presses and se what happens. I'll keep y'all posted.

Great news!! Today was leg day. I eliminated hacks...no friggin knee pain...and all is good. I did a 4 set warm-up with leg extentions first and then hit the Squats, Leg Press, and Extentions again. Legs feel great and no knee pain. Thanks for the help!!

Thanks boys. It's really weird how the hacks messed me up. I honestly thought it was the squats because I upped the weight to 720 lbs. So I can still squat till I puke! Nice.

Thanks Rubicon. I've been working hard since I broke the ankle in February. I've always had strong legs but not enough cut. I now have some pretty good slabs of meat along with half decent cuts in the quads.

I dont think that i will ever be squatting that. My goal is 6 plates on each side + a couple 5's and two 2 1/2's..... To parallel or lower.

Yea but 700 lbs is more than 7 plates each side… so that's very impressive. (only 1 plate a side from the animal we use to call Ronnie)
So, good job on the squatting guys (even at 600 lbs)!
