doing curls with my new W.O. buddy Blane Burke fully warmed, up, no indication of trouble, 2 sets completed on preacher with cambered curl bar, normal weight nothing extreme. Start to pull, my right hand slips out of prone to hammer position and POP! POP! POP!. no real pain but blane heard it. So we immediatly stopped, I headed home, put ice on it and called the docs. was told to keep ice on it, come in Monday am.
My Primary is off. PA looks at it. declares it ok, prescibes 800 mg ibuprophen, ice.
By the Friday it's looking lumpy and still hurting. Call my doc, he's already seen the report, suspected the worse, made appointments for me to get x-rays and see the osteo surgeon.
Surgeon says "The PA was wrong" outer pronator of right bicep is torn at insertion point. MRI last week, met with the surgeon again. Surgery is tenative for next week, 10 days in splint, one month in hard cast, then 3 months PT.
Merry *(^&*&%&^&*&%$^%$^% Christmas to me!
Taking glutamine and a Glucosamine/chondritin/bromelian blend, gainer, ALA, Chromium piccolonate.
Will be house bound more or less for a week. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
What else can I do?

Cavemuscle, I just had a similar injury about three weeks ago. My bicep snapped off at the insertion. From the pain and look of the bicep I new immediately that I pulled the bicep off the bone. I thought I was almost injury proof until now. I had a cast on my arm for 2 weeks. From what I hear most othopedic surgeons like to keep it on for six. My doctor said he didn't want my arm to freeze in one position. I had the cast off for week now and can't straighten my arm or sipinate my wrist.
I damaged my arm lifting a pool table. I have been in contact with bodybuilders and power lifters who have had a distal bicep rupture. Most have good news that in six months you will be able to lift again. I don't know the extend of your injury. They had to attach metal anchors into to my bone to reattach it. I have a nice Frankenstein scar on my forearm where the bicep was reattached.
I try keep a positive outlook but it's tough. I have been lifting hard for 30 plus years. To keep from going insane I have been running almost every day. It will make a nice before picture when I can lift again.
