Man, I got it bad. Lateral epicondylitis. I actually hurt it last summer playing wiffle ball (stupid), I had gotten a cortizone shot after the summer and it last a long time but it came back with a vengence. I have a lot of pain and tenderness on the inside of my elbow. Pulling motions hurt the most, almost every back exercise hurst as well as biceps. I tried to work through it but it's getting worse. I went back to the doc but she did not want to give me another cortizone shot in the same spot. She gave me some anit-inflammitories.
The original cortizone shot just masked the pain and didn't take care of the problem. I am now getting some physical therapy as well as icing it constantly. I am also trying Glucosacream by VPX.

I have it as well. Not doing anything for it though. Just punishing myself day in and day out.

My left elbow was bugging me bad last year due to heavy skullcrushers..............I just went lighter and always began my triceps routine with high rep pressdowns before I moved on to a mass builder.
Now it feels great................I have since kept in higher reps for tris as a rule but of course I still go heavy with low reps at times also.
Good luck with it guys.............I feel your pain!

I've suffered with tricep tendonitis for years. I seem to finally have it under comtrol, it got so bad about a year ago that I had to go to a physical theripist. He used ultrasound, electric muscle stimulation as well as a topical gell pack that was hooked up to electrodes that put antinflamatory right into the joint. He did'nt recomend shooting cortizone into the tricep tendon. Anyway I did get better after about 10 sessions. I've stopped locking out on all of my pressing movements, this seems to take stress off the joint and keep it on the muscle and actually gives me a better workout anyway.

I can't even do skull crushers anymore, haven't done them in over a year and it has nothing to do with this current injury. For some reason that movement is particularly rough on the elbows. I can do dumbell overhead extensions but for some reason the lying extension always hurt.

Dude, I know exactly what you are going through, as I had and it kept me from lifting for 7 very long years!!!!! Actually if it hurts on the inside and bugs you with pulling movements it's really "Golfers Elbow," but it's pretty much just the same thing. Anyways, I tried absolutly EVERYTHING I could get my hands on to get better, so I'm gonna share with you what worked best for me. First, and the hardest thing to do is let it rest!!!!! I know it's easy to say and hard to do, but believe me, you've got to let that inflamation go down. Secondly, heat, heat, and more heat!!!!!!! If you've got one one those little electric blankets wrap your elbow with it, and leave it on there for as long as you can stand. Third, try using lifting straps for all lat exercises, a lot of biceps exercises, and even some shoulder exercises (side db raises, high rows, ect). The straps will take out a lot of the forearm and bicep involvement. A good elbow "brace" will also help. I've tried them all, and the best one I found was the "Band It" which you can find on the net. Lastly, if you can afford it, see a Physical Therapist. I got my elbows treated with heat, TENS, ultra sound and transversal massage, and that really made the difference. Good luck, and above all, don't force it, it will just make it worse, trust me bro, I went through it for seven years.

i kinda have the same, like Tim from years of heavy skulls. I wear those elbow sleeves now when I do chest and arms. I warm up a bit more too.

I have intermittent pain on the inside too and its the heavy skullcrushers and close grip bench that do it. It can also be caused by an imbalance in the forearm muscles so a couple of sessions with a Physical Therapist might just do the trick!

Just wanted to add the following because I didn't notice it the first time I read your post. Ditch the anti inflammitories, they aren't effective for this kind of injury. The blood flow is so "small" to the elbow joint that the anti inflammitory just doesn't get there. I have been told this over and over by a ton of physical therapists, and my experience is that they are right. I actually "wrecked" my gut by following my GP's advise and using anti inflammitories for my bad elbows. The elbows didn't improve, and my once "iron plated" stomach can't even handle aspirin anymore. Sicario.

If it's most noticeable during lying extensions, then I would stay away from them. There are plenty of other triceps exercises that you can do instead that might not cause any discomfort. My elbows ache from time to time and I find that if I avoid the movements that bother them for awhile, the pain stays away. It may have something to do with leverage particular to a certain exercise, as I can do HEAVY fench presses and close grips with no problem whatsoever.

I used to have this problem every season when I was still playing baseball every spring/summer, it is a very frustrating and painful condition to have...I may miss playing ball, but I certainly do not miss the elbow pain. And as for the anti-inflams not helping this condtion, I couldn't disagree more. While I am not sure anything but rest truly "heals" this condition, the anti-infams will allow you to train without the pain.

Ever since I started DC, mine went away.. No more overuse syndrome, I suppose
