Hey,
Recently my (left) wrist has been feeling a little agrivated.
If I hold my hands together in sort of a perminant clap and push against each hand then my left wrist hurts a bit.
Same if I'm carrying a tray with a few things on it. Wierdly it doesn't hurt when I'm doing exersizes in the gym and I've been very careful to keep my wrist straight recently.
The pain is pretty minor but it feels quite deep.
Is this something impossible to diagnose over the net? I've also been out of the gym for 2 weeks (illness, not going well for me recently lol) and it still hurts...
Would doing some wrist exersizes help or agrivate it further? Should I stay away from the gym until I see a physio? Should I stop being such a pu**y? Lol.

Do you remeber when it began and a possible cause of it. Possibility you sprained it?

I wish it was something as small as a sprain... I've had it for maybe 5 weeks give or take a week.
I don't think I even did it in the gym, it was possibly helping out in the garden lol.
I lift big weights all day and then when I plant some flowers I injure myself how stupid is that, heh.

I just read up on wrist sprains... Part of my wrist is VERY slightly swollen and different to my right.
However, a wrist sprain surely isn't something that lasts 4+ weeks unless it's a serious one. Might have to make a doc apointment.

could it POSSIBLY be carpel tunnel syndrome?? your indications of pain when u put ur hand together could very much be it.

I really really don't think it is carpel. My fingers and palm of my hand are completely unaffected- which is apparently the main areas carpel affects.
What does that leave? Some general minor lig/nerve damage?

When ALL else fails.....go see the physician! At least to get their opinion. Then decide what might be best for you.
I injured a left hamstring awhile ago and opted to see a good massage therapst (we have one at our gym!), which was the best decision I ever made on an injury.
I'm more concerned that your keeping out of the gym.......take care of your injuries...take care of whatever is keeping you away...and then get your as_ back in the gym!
...and do what you can do!

Thanks beefy.
I've been pretty ill with the flu which i would normally work through but it has hit me particularly hard.
I'll let you know what the doc says.

Was back in the gym today and now it hurts The physio will just take a look at me and say lower your weights but that doesn't feel like an option lol. It felt fine in the gym, no pain whatsoever... How wierd is that. Even after DB presses which is pretty hard on the wrists. The fact it hurts a while after the gym and not while I'm doing a specific exersize must mean something?

Turns out it's tendonitis.
I'm wrapping it while in the gym, being careful with form, stretching it lots and icing it after workouts.

Around 3 weeks later and it's no better if not worse.
Words cannot describe how annoying it is not being able to get to the gym because this isn't healing.
I'm going to try and see a doc and get an MRI.

You should try and see an orthopedic specialist because they deal with this kind of stuff more regularly. It will cost but I think you will be better off in the long run!

Had an x-ray yesterday. 2 week wait for the "results". I've done so much research I could make a god damn diagnosis myself in 5 minutes. Either the ulnar is out of place or it isn't!!
I hate the NHS.

I know, I've been off work with lower back problems since mid September and been having to go through the process of x-rays, physio and MRI's. I mean, you can hear the grinding of bone on bone every time I move but they still have to follow the process before they can be sure if I need surgery - hopefully I find out this Friday

I work at a muscular skeletal clinic and I hope you are seeing a hand surgeon. That is the optimum doc for you to be seeing. You may also see about having an EMG/NCS-nerve conduction study and electromyography. We do these here in our practice.....it will diagnose any nerve/muscle competent. We are often looking for problems with the ulnar nerve area. An x-ray may not be too beneficial, unfortunately. Continue to keep us updated.

It's definately around the ulnar that the problem is...
Karrie, I'm not sure if you are familiar with the health system in the UK but, basically, everyone gets free healthcare as standard (arguably comprimising the quality) and you can pay to have private (better surgeons, shorter waiting lists, etc.).
At the ripe age of 18, my unemployed status unfortunately does not offer me private healthcare or the income to afford it. Which means electromawatsits and MRI scans have painfully long waiting lists whereas a x-ray can be done relatively quickly.
My point is, an x-ray is the first option and if nothing is determined from that, I suppose I'll be put on a waiting list for an MRI or... I'll take the x-ray to my uncle who is a Homeopath and maybe he can do something.
It's so annoying as well because my wrist is getting slightly worse every day and if it's the tendon degenerating it's just going to take longer to mend.

I am sooo sorry to hear about the healthcare issue. I guess for the moment an x-ray is the best route. I hope I did not offend. ;D

Lol, not at all.
NHS is pretty standard for everyone. Private healthcare is for people who want priority and better service.
Results of my x-ray came through yesterday...
Nothing wrong :@
I'm angry because there obviously is something wrong but no one can really seem to give me any specifics.
But now I am pretty sure it is tendonitis (exclusively) so I'm going to start doing everything I can do help it heal.
Including rubbing WD-40 into my wrist! LOL!
