Sounds good, Joel. Just wondering about the suitability of HIT cardio first thing when you're already catabolic. Are you using l-glutamine or consuming any whey or sugars before doing this. I'm sure you've got all this nailed - I'm just being nosey ... something I've found helpful when performing cardio first thing is to use plenty of l-glutamine, like maybe 15grams with a pint of water and a good tablespoon of Flax. Obviously the glutamine is anti-catabolic, and the Flax provides a few calories without producing an insulin response. This means the cardio penetrates stored fat as blood glucose remains unaffected. HIT cardio post-workout is perfect. I'm sure you're on your way to getting that shrink-wrapped look!! All the best Dean

I do use a serving of whey right before I do my morning session. In your opinion what is the ideal HIT cardio workout? I use the Max ot cardio 16 min. recumbent bike. Don't have any choice at home, but I can do anything at the gym.

Joel, I don't think there is an 'ideal' type of HIT cardio workout, other than selecting an approach that produces results for your physique. If it works then it's good, in my opinion. Sixteen minutes sounds great, in fact I do something similar post-workout, which involves using a lifefitness lifecycle. Typically, I'll turn the pedals for 3 minutes at 100rpm then perform five intervals of 30 seconds on, 30 seconds off. During the sprints, I'll pedal at around 130rpm and then back off to 90rpm and repeat. No more than five of these is sufficient to push my heart rate up to the mid 160s, and then I back off for the remainder pedalling at about 90-100rpm, and even then my heart rate doesn't drop below 130. When I'm dieting for a show, I tend not to do much cardio because my weights workouts are very quick, almost circuit like and I find this is better for enabling (me) to retain muscle, especially in my lower body. I'll employ lots of alternates, by training antagonists and performing lots of supersets, with minimum rest. Presently, however, like most people, I do my share of more conventional cardio.

Sounds good Dean, I'm getting really close to my best condition and I'm still 7 weeks out. I've never been this cut this far out before so I'm really trying to preserve muscle.
I'll try to post some more pics soon, see what you think.
Thanks!
