Well folks the weight room is once again open, and on today's show we will review Chris Cormier's latest project.
Real Deal
My anticipation for this training dvd was at an all time high. I read in Chris Column in MD that this was to be a kick ass dvd. Heavy wieghts, off season footage, club scenes, ect ect.
Chris also mentioned that it was filmed over the course of several years by Mits.
Well what I got was something totally different!!!
The dvd was filmed and produced by Val Segal. Production work is good, with good editing and sound and music.
However, this dvd falls very short in a lot of departments that it should succeed in.
Chris is 10 days out from the Olympia (2004), and although he is in good shape he isn't in the shape we are accustomed to seeing him in, like in the BFTO vids.
Also the weights are way down. Not normally a problem for me, but Chris has always touted his strength. I've also seen him use 200 lbs dumbells and 495 for inclines, which is what I was looking for in this dvd. Unfortunately what we see is 275 lbs flat benches, and 30-35lbs lateral raises.
So the weights he used were disappointing, as was his condition.
You would see more inspiring footage if you taped all of his BFTO segaments over the years and spliced them together.
The extras provided a very little glimpse of his personal life. We see him shopping on Rodeo drive but we have no idea what he buys and its all shot from a view that we really can't tell whats going on.
I hate to critize anyone's work but this video/dvd is a major let down. Maybe because with Chris it could have been great. It could have been right up there with Markus' and Ronnie's
I hope he makes a second attempt and improves the product.
But for now I give this DVD a 2 out of 5
Until next time the weight room is closed
