Muscletime’s Titans volume 7, Lee Priest, “Its not revenge….”
Muscletime, for those of you who don’t know, is an internet bodybuilding magazine. To check them out log onto www.Muscletime.com, to see everything they offer. In 2003 they started getting into the dvd business, and first it was like a muscle magazine come to life. Then they started making dvd’s profiling various athletes like Dennis James and Dexter Jackson.
Titans Volume 7 is the dvd that profiles Lee Priest just one week before his Ironman win in 2006. The dvd is well made, and since I have seen almost every muscletime dvd, I can honestly say that they get better every time. Lee is in awesome shape, perhaps the best he has ever been been filmed in. Lee has many dvd’s out on him, (2-mitsuri okabe dvd’s, 2-GMV tapes’dvd’s, 10 of his lifestyle dvd’s ect ect), prior to this release I always thought the BFTO (Battle for the Olympia) of 1998 was the footage that showed Lee in his best condition. But this footage eclipse that footage.
The Dvd shows full body workouts and each segment shows a portion of the Ironman show. This is a nice feature, because it shows you how all the hard work paid off. In each segment Lee train his chosen bodypart and he trains most of the time in a tank top, showing the viewer all the detail that a crazed fan would enjoy.
The bodypart training segments run in this order, Chest, Delts, Legs, Arms, Back, and then a full body routine a few days before the show. If you are looking for huge weights and maximum intensity, then you will be disappointed, and this is understandable so close to a contest. Lee trains at a pace that is even, not fast or super intense, but still hard. I’m not knocking Lee here, its just when you a week away from a show, and you have been busting your balls, you need to ease up into the show.
Lee uses a lot of machines in his workout, but as the viewer I didn’t really mind. That’s because his conditioning was damn impressive. Take his arm workout as an example. There is a lot of volume in his training, but not the real nice thing is watching his absolutely impressive arms swell up to near impossible size! And watching Lee train is always a treat because you can hear all the wise cracks and jokes. He is a funny guy.
Besides his arm workout being fun to watch, his delts and leg workouts are also enjoyable. He does countless leg extensions and leg presses, and watching those huge delts pump up is truly amazing.
Muscletime included some bonus features like the dinner after the show, and Lee getting his hair dyed before the show. Its all good stuff.
Like I said before, it’s a well made dvd, but I would say that this dvd is made for Priest fans. Your average muscle viewer who wants to be inspired by maximum intensity and huge weights will disappointed with this one. But again its not Lee’s fault. Muscletime loves to tape guys as close to a show as possible and this is what you get when you do that.
All in all it’s a good dvd, but I would have preferred it to be filmed a little further out from the show, to see Lee really get into the workouts. This is why I give the dvd a 3 out of 5.
