If you have the "pre-contest bible" check out how differant the diets of Gaspari and the rest of the pro's. Here is an example:
Gaspari (hieght listed at 5'9", but I know he is 5'8") starts his diet 8-10 weeks out and weighs 215lbs contest 245 off season. Caloric break down 5 meals a day average calories per day 2800 (zig zag approach)
Tom Prince height listed at 5'8", contest weight 257, off season 310!!! Caloric break down 5 meals a day averaging 3800 calories a day. (he to uses the zig zag approach)
Now I find this telling in todays bodybuilding. We often see the distended belly in many athletes, could it be not only from advanced usage of AAS and other stuff, but also the amount of food that the athlete consumes nowadays.
Talk about excess.
The only thing I can say, if for the natural athlete to go back 20 years to see how the pros did it and follow that advice!

Interesting, thanks!
I dont know what is the main reason for distended belly, but in my mind, this is the worst flaw a bodybuilder could have! Sad that judges dont always think the same!
PS: What is the Zig zag approach?

I think the GH Gut is a combination of things. The GH was being used in the 80's. AAS as well. Then Insulin came in, and everyone certain people say that will not cause the gut alone. From the people I talk to (admittedly not many), they have theories that it's the combination of the following:
1) GH and the key here is the AMOUNTS being used 2)Insulin 3) Amount of food being ingested in order to stay that big.
Number three in combination with number 1 is the greatest reason I think. The GH traps water inside you and your intestines (among other things, but I'm not guru!) and the amount of food you have in your gut on a daily basis in order to hold that size is enough to kill a small child. Add in the amounts of GH some guys use, and I'm sure all the suspicions of this cult sport are true.
