Ok All You Experts Out There! Looking for a 2nd opinion ~ Powerlifitng Bench Press Q: I seem to be stalling on my chest when benching ~ especially when getting close to my 1RM. My trainer tells me time (to get stronger) and form will fix that. But a few others have suggested: Using boards, chains, bands and/or floor presses from different height. What do YOU all think? 1400? Vince? Anybody? Thanks mrbeefy

Frank, I'm not a powerlifting expert, but I do have an opinion anyway :-) ... and I think that your trainer is right on! Yes you can try to switch the momentum by doing different things, if done from time to time, it wont hurt and will even be useful! But the main strategy should be to be have a solid periodization plan (volume, rep range, intensity, etc) and be patient with it, which I'm pretty sure you have with your trainer.

Thanks Mo! I respect and appreciate your opinion...even if your NOT a powerlifter! I guess patince has been my problem. I'll get there! We are switching up the routine a bit. The last two workouts were great. Felt strong. Form is much better. I even had another powerlifter who has been lifitng for quite awhile, wink at me and say, "That squat was perfect!" Now if only my bench would do that!
