So lately, I've been on a popcorn kick. I used it as my "refill carb" a meal or two after a workout. Costco has an 8lb container of plain popcorn, and so I bought some and have been cooking it pretty much nightly, trying out different methods since I don't really have a popcorn cooker (any suggestion welcome, but I've been putting it into a bowl and using another bowl on top to keep it contained). So tonight, I figure "Hey, I'll use some flaxseed oil to make it moist for the Molly McButter..." which I normally use vegetable or canola oil. So, I throw it in a paper bag, like my roommate suggested the other day and put it in the microwave. And four minutes later, I have a half burnt bag of popcorn, the house STINKS of burnt popcorn coated with burnt flaxseed oil!!! I didn't care about the nutritional qualities of the flaxseed being ruined, I just figured it was healthier than the other oils I use. Moral of the story, cooking with Flaxseed oil, in any way, shape or form, should be avoided!!!!

Why would you use popcorn as a 'refeed'?

Not a refeed in the DC sense. Basically, it's my treat for the day. Low in carbs, it fills me up, and satisfies the palette. Most of the time, I don't even care. A calorie is a calorie in my eye. So, if I'm having carbs, I don't care where they come from. 30g of carbs from popcorn is the exact same as 30g of carbs from a tub of ice cream. The GI and all that, I could care less about it. So, really, I'm just addicted to popcorn at the moment, and that's what I'm eating. Does that clarify a bit more?

I use flaxseed oil to "greese" the pan when cooking egg whites, making grilled chicken and it seems to work ok.
