I'm using my brother's name to get on because I had some comments to make about the show:
First I'll comment on the contestants as I came to meet alot of great people, then I'll explain my dissappointment in the way things turned out.
Eric Brugh..... One of the absolute best people I have ever met. Meeting him and his wonderful wife Shelly was the real highlight of the whole trip for my wife and myself. On the plane ride home we hardly talked about the contest at all, instead talking about what a great time we had hanging out with them and how much we are looking forward to visiting them and having them come down here to spend time with us. As far as a bodybuilder .......in all the years I have competed I have never seen a complete package like that. Eric...you are a FREAK! Absolutely tremendous...you are what a national champion should be! I can't tell you how much I feel priveleged to have you share so much of your bodybuilding knowledge with me, as well as being a great friend.
Tim....the same guy I thought he would be ..a truly great guy. Tim...that was the best shape I have ever seen you in..you looked great,bro....keep it up and the first place calls will start to come.
Bob...another great guy who made one hell of a transformation...Bob be proud of what you had accomplished .
NOW ....ME:
I sucked!!!! (It doesn't hurt to be able to admit that when it is true) I probably came in as bad as I could look! I was down to 159!!!!, could not fill up no matter how many or what kind of carbs I took in...loose skin where I never had it due to being flat...I just simply took my body past the point of no return....to long on a contest diet...(since Jan 1 ) with no breaks and three shows...I just simply fell apart. I was holdiig things together right about to the 2 week mark then everything just fell through the bottom! I was no way even CLOSE to the bodybuilder I was in my summer shows, and the thing that pisses me off is that I feel if I had come in like I looked in the summer I could have won my class. I hate stepping on stage at anything than my very best and it was hard to be up there on stage knowing that I wasn't. If Tim posts any pictures, compare them with pictures of me at my summer shows and you will now excatly what I am talking about.
Lesson learned.......
I'll never allow that to happen again and a little break,I will begin kicking my ass for 9 months to bring the package I know I can when I am at my best to the NPC Master's Nationals. When I get pissed off at myself..things happen!!
This will be the first real off season that Eric and I will have to work together on the diet and I am determined to bring something shocking to the stage in Pittsburgh.
If there is anything from all of this that I can pass on to you guys it would be to be respectful of your body and don't ask it to go through more than is reasonable or possible. Train hard, diet hard, but know when to switch gears. I paid for not heeding this lesson with the poorest showing of my career...like I said it will never happen again, but for some of you reading this it I hope will never have to happen at all.
Keith.............nice talking to you guys again!
