You have to have those carbs in there, even if in low amounts.
That`s why I always advocate carb cycling as you still have the carbs but they are never excessive!!

Timski, I have never really dieted before but plan on doing so soon. So I am still learning bits and pieces.
Obviously on the days I would take in 200, 150 I would taper off the carbs as the day went on. But on the 50g day would I just have the small amount of carbs on the first two meals then the others would be carb free? Then of course do the same with the 100 and 125 gram day. So on those days there would be no carbs after meal 3 or 4? Do I have that right?

VG,my thinking on late night carb consumption has kinda` changed lately, as a carb is still a carb whether eaten at 7 AM or midnight. It doesn`t turn into a gremlin, just don`t exceed your required total for the day. I still eat most of them early on, and cut off at night, just to be safe though!! I could be wrong....I was wrong once before.....but only once. ;D Eat the 50 gms anytime preferably post-workout as you will have stored glycogen for energy pre-training,and they will be optimally utilized PW. Confused....me too!

So the carb can come anytime but don't exceed the grams? I gotcha.
I think I will still taper them off though, like you say, just to be safe.

Timski, one more silly question. If I plan to diet for 12 weeks do I start this at the 12 week point and follow all the way through?

Hi Tim, i think c/c can also be used for lean bulking.. adding more no. of high carbs day N lesser no. of low carbs days

Tim, do you count vegetables such as Broccoli towards your daily carb intake when dieting? I know a cup of Broccoli has 40 calories and 7 grams of carbs. I plan on having 7-8 oz of Chicken Breast, 2 cups of broccoli & 1 tablespoon of Olive Oil in my 2nd to last meal.

The easiest method I've come across in terms of carb cycling is to break the carbs down into 2 groups: starchy(potatoes, rice, oatmeal,et.) and fibrous: (vegetables ), and then rotate consecutive days of each carb only.( ex.- 1 starchy carb day followed by 3 fibrous carb days.) When cutting I usually go 1 starchy, 3-4 fibrous. You can find what rotation works best for you through trial and error. I never really weigh my food and/or count grams or calories of anything. The mirror doesn't lie as long as you are honest with yourself! I just make sure I have a good protein source (lean beef, chicken, fish) and a carb(again, what type of carb depends where my carb cycle is at) with each meal 5-6 times a day.

Nimrod, you could try that it sounds like it would wok.Since you are trying to gain size and not get ripped,I think it`s a good idea. Millenium Man,Welcome to the board!! Seems like I welcomed a lot of people in this thread!! I never count the fibrous carbs, as I think they are of no big consequence, unless I am going to zero carb intake, where I eat absoulutely no carbs at all for 1-3 days ........tops!! Keith ,that`s a good idea,I am only counting starchy carbs and never figure in fibrous veggies, but no doubt you would get seriously shredded with the plan you outlined.

Hey Ski. RUBICON here. Jumping over from Mayhem. You gavea starting point of carbs and protein at the begining going by weight. Do you drop these amounts as weight drops??

Hey Rubicon, welcome to the board!! No I don`t really as the carbs are pretty low anyway. I only make adjustments if I hit a sticking point, or fat loss is too slow. I usually do this for a contest, and only have a certain amount of time to get contest ready.

Tim... Just read your thoughts over at MassMonsters and decided to register here to get more info. Your CC plan goes on a 5 day cycle, any specific reason for that? I was thinking of tinkering with it and making it a 7 day thing. Something like this: 200 150 100 50 125 200 250 I like when things fit nicely into a week. I can plan easier that way.

No particular,or scientific reason for the 5 day scenario, except that after about 3 days of very low carbs,I think it`s a good time to kind of replenish the body by having the two higher days...........you kind of deserve it. ;D You can tweak it anyway you like......the whole key to having it work ,in my opinion is to never go too high on the carbs, even on a high carb day, except occasionally........as it sometimes will jumpstart the metabolim if at a fat burning sticking point. While your plan decreases carbs daily in 50 gram increments,I decrease by about 75 as I think the disparity of the 50 gram increments may be a bit low.....still,it will work ........I`m trying to use carbs for fuel, and after that, hopefully tap into fat sources, that`s why I go a bit higher than the 50 gm. mark while decreasing. I would give both ways a try ....the only thing you can lose is excess bodyfat.

I used to use the ECA stack, but haven`t used anything in the last few years now.
I do drink green tea at times, and way too much coffee, but I rely more on diet and cardio to get lean.

Yeah. I used ECA stack years ago. Then went ripped fuel without ephedrine. Good stuff. I havent used anything in a long time. I even try to stay away from caffine, but it seems as though I stay leaner when I take in alot of caffine. It just makes me moody. Ups and downs.
