Okay..i've been seeing this word everywhere on bodybuilding boards.......and even super markets....
What is Creatine?

Creatine, or creatine monohydrate, is a naturally occurring amino acid that helps skeletal muscles produce ATP (adenosine triphosphate, the body's energy molecule) and volumises or increases muscle mass via hydration. When you do high-intensity, short-duration exercise, such as lifting weights or sprinting, a chemical reaction takes place, providing a burst of energy to your muscles. Creatine is fundamental to this reaction. Your body does not store very much creatine in your muscles for normal, everyday functions. Creatine supplementation has been widely shown to increase fat-free weight and muscle strength, improve endurance, and delay fatigue for high-intensity, short-duration sports. i have been taking creatine for a little over 2 weeks now. i can honeslty say i think its taking effect, but how come i feel heavier, or should i say, fatter?
is this a side effect of creatine?

Yes it is , You SHOULD always gain weight to a certain extent when you supplement with Creatine.
The reason being, is that Creatine pulls water into the muscle cell, and other soft tissues, sometimes I notice my joints hurt less when I take it as well.

I'm starting to get interested in the creatine product everyone is talking about...although i don't have much knowledge on how to take it...and what not...I avoid it. Its probably best though Unless you guys think it WILL help my lifting progress.

My thoughts on creatine:
I do not believe in cycling it. Some do but I don't think it is necessary. You get creatine from meat products anyways and your body stores it so I don't see the need in cycling it, to each his own.
Take 5 to 10 grams of creatine monohydrate everyday (workout days and non-workout days) and mix it in your protein drink.
It doesn't matter what time of day you take it.
Avoid the high priced celltech and stuff like that.
I like the powder or micronized creatine, much easier to mix.
I also do not believe in loading but most folks do.

This is pretty much how I approached it too. Also, in terms of weight gain, remember that it's specifically in the muscles (so your weight may very well go up while on -- typically was 5-7 lbs for me -- but it's all muscle volumization... This is part of how the process works... so you aren't fatter, you're just bigger. T

Well..i tried a teaspoon of some creatine by Optimum this morning...
I feel like i have more energy through out the day...not sure if it was because of the creatine or not. This girl also said i look buffer....but i don't think the creatine would work that fast!
Not sure how the creatine will effect me..but that is why i'm trying it out . I'll tell you guys what happen ...if something does happen.

I was wondering..i hear you shouldn't take creatine with some sort of acid?
Well...i heard orange juice i should avoid.( don't drink it anyway.)
But what about acid from fruits like blueberries? or from my sugar free syrups : citric acid?
Those really are the only ACID i find in my diet. Not sure if blueberries are consider one..i just heard somewhere that says all berries are acidy like lemon...
What do you guys think? Or am i find taking Creatine along with those things.?

AFAIK you are fine with acids from fruit juices. There has been a longstanding premise that if you use grapejuice (particularly high in sugars) it helps shuttle the creatine better to your muscles...
I found whatever juice I mixed it with it worked just fine (as long as you're consistent in taking it -- I took 10 g/day of the cheapest stuff I could find -- Costco).

This can make you look more bloated but it is also one of the most anabolic benefits of creatine. You see, cell volumization increases protein synthesis. more protein synthesis essentially means more muscle

While on the subject of creatine, I just wanted to say that the results I have seen while on the new creatine esters (VPX CEX in my case) have been amazing. They completely blow monohydrate out of the water in my opinion. Much less bloating as well.

anyone tried di or tri creatine malate?
i asked about it, and the dude at the store said that i wouldnt have GI problems with it (like i do with monohydrate), but it was more expensive than i was prepared to pay...any reviews or suggestions?

I have used San V12 turbo which contains tricreatine malate. I thought this was a good product, however I like the CEX better myself.
