I am in training mode and my husband is really pushing me to get in enough protein...no problem.... due to work and my busy kids, to help get in the protein, I drink a protein shake in the morning and one at night typically after my workout...the problem I am having is I get really bloated (my stomach) about an hour later and stomach aches for hours. Today I mixed the powder with water instead of milk, Terry's suggestion, and that did help a little bit, but I still got bloated. Terry said right now we have 100% Whey protein and he has another one that is a mixture of isolates, concentrates & casein. I have not tried that one yet. Any suggestions?

Im guessing ur ususing the suggested amount of water or milk correct? Sometimes happens with me, if i double to water mixed in it usually goes away

I would stick to mixing it with water........especially at post-workout, as the fat in the milk will slow digestion,thus defeating the purpose of the post-training shake.
Whey digests quickly,and that`s what you want after you train.
As far as the digestion issues,try some papaya enzyme tabs.........very cheap and they`ll definately help you in my opinion.
Do a Google search on papaya enzymes or bromelain..................both very good digestive aids.

First of all, use water only.
You may want to try Jay Robb protein. ALL natural. Easily digested. I have a sensative tummy too.

Thanks for the response on the Protein Powder.... Rubicon19: I will have Terry look into that brand, Jay Robb, for me. Thanks. I was hoping for different brands to possibly try. I like the fact it is all natural. Tim: Since using water with the protein powder helped a little bit, I am definately going to continue using that instaed of milk. Two questions about the papaya enzyme tablets: 1) Is this a tablet you take before or after taking a shake? 2) Can you buy this at GNC or any store ie Target, Walmart etc? dnutz: Yes, I am taking the recommended protein to water ratio. I have to admit I think it does taste better with water Thanks for the input!!!!

Karrie,you can take them before or after,or at both times.........it doesn`t matter too much if I recall........you just chew them up and they taste very good.
Yes,you can buy them at GNC or more than likely at the stores you mentioned..........if not,most drug stores carry them in their vitamin/health products sections.
I`ll see what I can come up with on Papaya as I haven`t taken it in a long time.

Heres a tidbit about it,but most of the stuff I found were sites trying to sell the product. I`m sure there is a lot more out there but I got lazy!! The fruit, as well as the other parts of the papaya tree, contain papain, an enzyme that helps digest proteins. This enzyme is especially concentrated in the fruit when it is unripe. Papain is extracted to make digestive enzyme dietary supplements and is also used as an ingredient in some chewing gums.

Tim, Thanks so much for the information. I am going tomorrow on my lunch break tomorrow to find some. There is GNC close to my work. I will let you know how they work. Rubicon19, Terry is looking into getting the the Jay Robb protein for me. Thanks for the website, we will be checking it out!!!

Just got done with another 20 min HIIT session on the treadmill, so I'm not slacking there.. Hahaha.. Seriously, I needed a mental break after dieting for 15 months.. I decided not to do the April 29th show b/c I found out I placed NINTH out of TEN guys in my class at the drug-tested show, so obviously I'm in need of serious improvement and figured being that I'd already be at a disadvantage in a NON drug-tested show and there's no way my skin will tighten up 100% by then, why spend the extra $$$? I'm fairly comfortable w/presentation & posing, so why do it just for THAT experience? Anyway, my plan now is to get my weight back to 170-175lbs(I'm about 180-185lbs and still fairly tight- except for the abs-right now and some is water since I've been eating crap for 5 days) and hold it so the loose skin will tighten some more. I figure if I can stay there all of May and June, then diet for the October 7th show starting at 175lbs max, I can come in at a SHREDDED 160-165lbs and be much tighter and hopefully be able to bring my weak points(pec & delt fullness) up in the process. So, new journal will be started July 8th when the actual contest diet starts. There! That's my story and I'm sticking to it.............

I hear ya` about the mental break......it can be crazy dieting like that for so long!!
I respect your decision about not doing the show,but I don`t respect the judges decision on your placing..............clearly you should have placed higher.
