It may be a bit late now Xena, but try this:
For every time you have sex the first year of marriage, put one penny in a old Alhambra (or similar) water jug. For every time you have sex AFTER the first year, you take out TWO pennys. Most people dont' ever empty out the jar. Tim is the perfect example. That is, before Viagra/Cialis...... :Happy Spinner:

It's getting my ass up on an 11 degree morning, sliding on ice for a mile before hitting a sanded road just to get to the gym to do my core leg movements! I now see why Brandon had me increase calories. Just the act of getting there used up my oatmeal and protein shake. By the last set of deads I was getting light headed. B Crybaby. ;D Hell, if the temp. was lower by about 10 degrees, the 2 and 1/2 inches of rain the region of Western Pa. received yesterday would I believe from a conversion chart would have been about 40 inches of snow. Oh yeah, I don't want to see you complain about the 95 degree heat and 100% humidity in the midwest in August also. ;D Just kidding, looks like your area was the part of the country to be hit by old man winter. Take care.

Dedication is waking up at 4:30 am, to take your fat burners, and do cardio before your 11 + hour work day.
Dedication is drinking your protein in between small meals of tuna and rice, when your craving the pizza or burger king your co workers got for lunch.
Dedication is pushing you workout back past 10:00 pm because you promised your kids you would take them to the movies.
Dedication is hitting the weight room before you go onto Tim's board!
Dedication is putting your wife, family, and career before your workouts, while still getting your workouts done.

You are the backbone of America. I envy the position in life that you have attained. 1400, Well said. I remember reading an article about Larry Scott during his prime. He said he went to his full time job and then he worked out for two hours. After that he went to night school. He was the best bodybuilder on the planet during that time. I still have that 1966 Muscle Builder somewhere in my house.
Sergio Oliva prior to becoming a cop use to work 10 to 12 hours of manuel labor for employment prior to his work outs.
The new wave of pro bodybuilders that don't seem to have a job is hard to relate to. I know a select few that live off endorsements to live. On the dark side I know some sell drugs and prostitute themselves. Let's say your the number ten best pro in the world. How much money can you make off prize money, endorsements; and personal training? Is $70 K to high of a guess? It's decent middle class money but where does that lifter do after his "career" is over?
We all have to over come obstacles to train. Some more than others. Commitments from work and family obviously play a big factor in the scheduling of our workouts.
Vince Lombardi once said to his players on the Green Bay Packers is that you have to have priorities in the right order. First is to God. The second is your family. The third is the Green Bay Packers. He said if you have you priorities in order you can't lose. I try to apply this to bodybuilding.

Well said old timer, well said. Thats one of the reason's I have so much respect for certain Bodybuilders. Take Darrem Charles, heres a guy who wins a few small shows every year, finally got an endorsement contract, but still works extremely hard as a personal trainer. But it is the previous generations that have always inspired me, Oliva, Pearl, Scott, Corney, and others. The 60's and 70's for bodybuilders were much like the 40's and 50's for pro football players. During the off season those guys held down jobs.
True story. My Dad played for Miami (university) and graduated 52-53 (I think) He was offered a posistion with San Fran (49 nrs). He turned it down because a teaching job he was offered paid more money!!!

I suddenly remember some dedication that still makes me smile. There is a town by me named Asbury Park, NJ. At one time it was a popular shore town among the rich in the 1920's;30's and 40's. It's has hit some very rough times lately. Many buildings are boarded up. The threat of crime is everywhere. It sometimes resembles a ghost town in it's decay.
I was working in the area and I saw a group of black men working out. They were using an abandoned kids play ground. They were using chins on the monkey bars. Some where using improvised dipping bars. There was a guy doing push ups. One was doing free hand two legged squats and one legged squats. They were working out without their shirts and they were ripped and built. Here were men that were dedicated to physical culture. They didn't belong to a gym with 15 treadmills and chrome weights. They didn't have the lastest supplements. Steroids were something you read about in the paper.
All they had was dedication. Sometimes that the only thing you need.
