Well, let's just make this simple and to the point. My best Squat USED to be 250 lbs. Tonight = 315 lbs. New PR. Little more work on form, and we'll start adding a little more First meet about 6 weeks away. Feels funny not to start tanning!

Well...it happened...a suckyworkout tonight. Bench.
Form is eluding me. Seriosuly frustrated and pissed me off. Cannot get the shoulder retraction down. Diffucult to break old bad habits.
Strong enough, but just cannot get the feel for the powerlifting bench. It will come, I just need to figure it out.
Same frustrating feeling I get when I practice posing and can't get my poses down for bodybuilding.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!
I'm going to bed.

YOU WILL GET THE FORM ON THE BENCH....I PROMISE!!!! I felt the same way about my squat form and now it is pretty decent. It is just alot of thinking at first and then you get the hang of it and barely have to think about it. I forget to pull my shoulders back and tuck and tighten everything from head to toe too when benching! Hang in there, keep plugging away and you will get it. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Thanks for all your support today. I got a few PM's and some phone calls too. I'll get through this stuff. Just gets frustrating when you can't figure out what you're doing wrong, and can't "feel" it to get it right. It will come around. If not, there's always drinking and chasing women.

9/25/07 Well, squat and bench last night. Good workout. I was spent when I got home. Bench form is coming, slow but sure. Greg found a few little tricks for me to try and it seems to be working.Bench "feels" much better. Much Stronger. Much more comfortable. Bernie said it even "looked pretty!" (I guess that's a good thing!?!) Greg said he was racking his brain all week thinking about ways to help get my bench down. Think I'm coming down with a bit of a cold. That may explain why I was so tired last night. Sounds like a trivial thing, but I even learned how to "spot" someone correctly. Used to spotting bodybuilders, where if they can't finish a rep, you just assist them into the rack. But learned the proper way to spot so that no one gets hurt, you assist the lifter, etc. When you have somone in a squat rack, attempting 500 + pounds, and they start to fall forward or crumble from the weight, you just can't grab the bar and assist them into the rack. So it was a new experience to help me and my training partners. Well, November 3rd meet is right around the corner. Feels funny not tanning, etc. Weight is holding steady at 175 lbs. Has not fluctuated in almost two months. I'll be ready to go into the 181 lb class, no problem. Well, I'm off to a pre-retirement seminar for two days (yes, I am getting close ) So I'll be out of my office, but still checking in from home. Later

Glad last night's wo went well for you! The form, as you well know by now, just takes time, but you are getting better with every wo it appears. ;D Nov is just around the corner and I have been stressing quite a bit about it, but we will all be ready. AND one thing I learned from Greg, is if you are coming down with a cold and you feel achy DO NOT train, so glad I listened b/c when I trained last week I was pretty strong! So, rest if you can if you feel achy at all. We will be up on Sat, my sister is keeping the kids so we both will be at your gym.

Well, another glitch. I will NOT be competing in the Novemebr 3rd Powerlifting meet as planned. However, I will be there to support my wife, and Karrie. I will also be going to Denver the 3rd week of November to support my wife at the Nationals. Long story. Suffice it to say, I better get back on stage, one way or another very soon (either bodybuilding or powerlifting). or I fear I may lose my fire for this sport

Well, today is October 18, 2007 and time for an update. Yes, I'm still powerlifitng, and enjoying every minute of it. Have had some minor set backs, mostly political. In a nutshell: USAPL is STRICTLY drug tested. My Physician prescribed RX will cause me to come up positive in a drug test. WADA conformed rules. So competing in THAT federation is out. Searching for Federation that is appropriate to my needs. Looking at the Pro Division of the IPA. They seem welcoming. A little depressed, hurt, dejected, etc., that my wife and I will not be competing in the same meets. Time will work that out. Getting stronger. Getting the hang of the bench form. Getting that "powerlifter-look" (not sure how I feel about that yet!) Wife is doing OUTSTANDING in her lifting. She is going to blow them away at the Nationals on November 17-18 in Denver! Very Proud of her. WEll, wish I had more to say, but, beleive it or not I'm at a loss for words today! Talk more soon!

You are never at a loss for words!!! LOL!
I was starting wonder what you were going to do. So, this federation, IPA, do they have meets in this area or will you need to travel a bit AND when is their next meet??
I know you are disappointed you will not be able to compete with Bernie, but you are gonna be there to support her, that is AWESOME!

IPA has a few meets in Ohio, but most will require some travel.
