10/25/2007 Legs, Hams Very good wokout tonight. Totally smoked legs as it was hard to walk up my steps when I got home. Free Squats - 10 sets of ten at a very fast pace. Was going to go 315 on all sets but lower back was a little tender as I am not used to this so I thought I would ease into it. Each rep was slow and controlled up and and down: 2 x 12 x 135 1 x 12 x 225 1 x 10 x 275 9 x 10 x 295 Leg Extensions: 1 x 15 x 130 1 x 12 x 150 1 x 10 x 170 1 x 8 x 190 ---> dropped to 1 x 10 x 150 ---> dropped to 1 x 10 x 130 My quads were cooked after this. Hams: Hammer Strength Seated Leg Curl: 1 x 15 x 1 plate 1 x 12 x 2 plates 1 x 10 x 3 plates 1 x 10 x 3 plates ---> dropped to 1 x 12 x 2 plates Cybex Single Leg Curl Machine: 3 x 12 x 2 plates Inner Machine: 1 x 15 x 180 1 x 10 x 200 1 x 10 x 200 1 x 15 x 180 1 x 15 x 180 An just think only 36 more leg workouts likke this till nationals...Heheheh Freaking 55 gallon drums for quads my friend! An with this type of workout out they will only get BIGGER.... I was just telling my partner last week only 36 more leg workouts. He just put his head down and said "wonderful." LOL I have a good one planned for this week so stay tuned.

I've always said, leg training sets the hard core lifters apart from the wanna be's!

I've always said, leg training sets the hard core lifters apart from the wanna be's! Exactly. A lot of guys don't want to or can't put the effort in that is needed to build good legs. My whole body is sore and beat up the day after legs. This tells me that everything got worked to some extent.

You and I have talked about this many times before, but when someone tells me they train hard, I wait till I can see how they train their legs till I decide for myself. You wouldn't believe the number of guys that come into the gym and train their upper bodies only! Their physique ends up looking ridiculous! After I do legs I am shot! Keith

Keith When I go to the gym, I typically have to wipe the dust off the leg machines before we use them. I am exaggerating of course but they are the least used pieces of equipment in the gym.

One of the worst things I see in the gym nowadays is guys telling me they squat 500 pounds and I give them props.......then when I actually see them training,they are using the Smith Machine and barely even bending their knees!!
If they put on 225 and did 10 good deep reps,they`d be hard pressed to finish even one set!

You guys been watching me do legs. LOL I remember when I use to load the bar up with 315lbs do 5or6 rep doing let's call them quarter squats. Put 8 plates on each side the leg press same amount of movement. I really thought I was doing something. Now it's bottom out squats with 185 to 225 for 6 to 8 reps, 4 or 5 plates on leg press all the way down till your butt curls up. And now I know I am doing something.

We've got a guy at the gym who loads the bar with over 500lbs. and barely bends his knees! We had a guy one time load up the smith machine with 585. He did barely quarter reps. Screaming and yelling the whole time during the set. He then wanders over by us and says to me "What did you think of that?" I said "what the hell was that? drop 4 45s off each side and do it right next time". He looked at me disgusted, got his bag and left. Never saw him again. Idiot.

Eric's story about the guy squatting reminded me of something that happened to me a few years ago in the gym.... I was in the step up rack doing 315 to the floor for sets of 8, next to me in the Smith Machine was a guy with 315 on the bar doing 1/16th reps. He stopped and actually watched me do a set of 8, then said..." I thought you were stronger than that...I just did 10 with the same weight." I usually would just telll him to "fu*k off" or something, but this guy was a total ass inthe gym and everyone knew it so I told him "tell you what....I'll bet you 100.00 right now you can't do 1 rep the right way, ass to the grass, in the step up rack." He got up under the bar went all the way down and was BURIED!!! Told him "don't worry about the bet...it was worth it just to see your sorry ass buried under the bar!" Like Eric's buddy....the dude was a no-show after that!
