What do you all recommend as far as a supplement for fat burning? I used to take various things before I did cardio, IE: ECA, Lipo-6, Hydroxycut, Xenedrine, Ventilean, etc, but as you all know, these push the BP way up, and are NOT recommended if you have hypertension. Ok Guru's.. ( ) is there anything out there that is effective as a fat burner that WON'T raise the BP? Frank, The only thing I take, pre-cardio, these days, is a cup of green tea. Keith

I take a couple of Synthetek products when I'm contest dieting just before cardio. I don't think they raise the BP but they did help burn extra fat and gave me better endurance.

Thanks Guys! ALL great ideas. I know Dave Palumbo, so I'll check out his stuff too. All I have been doing recently is green tea and a capsule of cayenne pepper, which creates heat. Frank PS Checked out that New Powerhouse Gym last night. Had met about a dozen members from the old gym (all powerlifters) there to discuss "jumping ship" and got a tour of the facility. As I said before, VERY pretty. All new equipment. One of the owners is a Pro Football Player, so they have a lot of endurance equipment and such. One plus is that ALL thier classes are free with memebrship. So now it's up to the Manager to cut us a good deal on price. The facility is great, but it will add an additional 20 minute to our drive in and home for a total of about 35 minute drive in "good" weather. It's a 24/7 facility, LOTS of equipment, mostly state-of-the-art stuff too. FOUR powerlifitng platforms, TWO ER racks, FIVE Power Racks, etc. Also saw a lot of members from the old gym that had jumped ship a year ago there working out. They all said they loved it there. ALSO, they have an "Academy' for training kids 8 years old and up, so that would be great for my grandchildren, since they are all very athletic. So, the possibility exsists that we may consider a dual memebrship at both gyms for the year and try them both out together, since my dues are all paid up for the year at the old place already. Kinda of a waste of resources having two gyms, but hey, gotta do whatch gotta do!

Having teo gyms can actually help the motivation Frank. I have two memberships now and it helps a lot. I went to the community center one last night and did a so-so back routine and a good cardio session. Tonight I'll likely go the hardcore key club and really blast the chest - the get down and dirty mentality!!!
So it depends on how I'm feeling that day because I cant do cardio or hit the various pieces of equip at the hardcore place and I cant get grungy at the community center. So Iget the best of both worlds depending on how I feel that day. And the cost to add me on to the wifes membership at teh community center was the same cost as me paying the day pas for three days which I was doing every month anyway.

With your health issues, you need to lose weight. But, I fail to see why you can't still powerlift- just at a lighter bodyweight.

I've got my own BP cuff. I take my BP before lifitng, and immedietely after.
When I use a "normal" BB regimen (reps, supersets, curls, leg extensions, etc) my bp elevates, but not to dangerosu levels, and immedetely retuns to an acceptable reading.
When I PL....my BP soars into dangerous levels, and it takes quite awhile to get it back to an acceptable level. IF for some reason I have a bad artery someplace, it's not worth blowing it out and having a stroke. When I PL....I go very heavy.
Beside the BP, I have a few other medical issues which could someday lead to heart problems, so I feel much better playing it safe. After all, the main goal is to remain healthy too...right?
