As most of you know, I'm trying to lose some weight for helath reasons. Well I'm inspired after seeing the Masters, so I have a new plan.
I'll be training for the PA strongest man contest on October 1. Now to do this show I still need to drop some weight. I would like to get down to 250lbs. Which is a drop of about 40lbs. I also have to really improve my endurance since the events will not just require strength but speed and power. I'll need to restructure my routine to make the most of it.
Then if all goes well, and I feel I can pull it off, I'll start preparing for the Pittsburgh bodybuilding championships in May of 2006.
Here are the strong man events
I'll be in the novice class
Log Press for reps (210lbs)
Farmers walk (210lbs)
Tire flip (700 lbs)
Keg lift (5 kegs 170lbs each)
Dedlift for reps (410lbs)
I'll structure my workouts as follows
Day 1 pushing day
Bench press. 4 sets (3 heavy, 1 light and explosive)
Standing press 4 sets (3 heavy 1 light explosive)
Incline press 4 sets all heavy
dumbell presses 3 sets heavy
should dumbell presses 3 sets heavy
close grip presses 2 heavy sets
Day 2 pulling
deadlifts 4 sets (3 heavy, 1 light and explosive)
Cleans 4 sets (3 heavy, 1 light and explosive)
dumbell cleans 4 sets (3 heavy, 1 light and explosive)
farmers walk training
wide grip upright rows 4 sets (3 heavy, 1 light and explosive)
day 3 squatting
squats 4 sets (3 heavy, 1 light and explosive)
front squats 4 sets (3 heavy, 1 light and explosive)
dumbell squats (to help with carrying events)
4 sets (3 heavy, 1 light and explosive)
leg curls
I'll follow a high protein diet (shooting for 400 grams a day) low carbs, and low to moderate fats.
I'll throw in a high carb day once a week.
Cardio will continue, since most of the events are timed I'll need to greatly improve my endurance.
I'll trhow in sprints at least 3-4 a week.
Well what do you guys think?
