Just tried to post a pic but it was too large, me in goggles ;D
I'm progressing slower than others but i'm making good improvements. Need to practise taking breaths and got to relax a little more. 3 lessons left so will have to book some more.

Ah man, this learning to swim is really driving me crazy now! Last night i feel i didn't do as good as the last week. Still making progress but its just too late at night to be active. My body gets all charged up and i don't get to sleep until gone midnight. So quite often i find i don't get to the gym to train legs in the morning after 6 hours sleep. Depending on my activity level day at work i might be able to train right after i finish. But today i'm just too tired to hit legs and its really bugging me that the swimming is interfering with my training I'm thinking about not booking any more lessons and just going down the pool at the weekends and keep practising until i'm a fish ;D As for legs? Wednesday is normally a rest day so i think to start Thursdays shoulders and tri's workout will have to be started with a set of 20 Rest Pause squats ;D Oh yeah, i nearly forgot. I got really irritated at the beginning of last nites lesson. Some people were watching me from a seating area and making me uneasy. I got really self conscious and thought they found it amusing to see a shaven headed muscley guy that couldn't swim. Which made my efforts worse And then it hit me . . . . . . . . . . . i had my goggles on so looked just like i do in the pic

Hmm, hows the swimming going? Erm, its not The last time i posted about it was the last time i went, i think! Just fell out of love with the idea and the course of lessons ran out so that might be the end of it. I was planning on going to the pool on a weekend with the "Mrs", to keep practising so as to get better. But those plans have never happened so far. I probably had a hate for it due to the way it was effecting my training and health! Just imagine all those incontinent old ladies that have been in the pool during the day!! ;D I remember thinking that whats the point in this learning to swim as i'm not naturally meant to be able to do it. And once the wedding is out of the way i doubt if i would ever go swimming very often after that. So if it was doubtfull i'd swim again, but its a 100% surity that i would be training for years to come. . . . . . . the training took priority of plans ;D

Oh dear, that sounds bad! I decided to let my training take over from learning a possible life saving skill! Am i mental for the metal? ;D ;D Emergency plan: must train harder so will look super sexy at the beach or pool. That way i will attract the attention of any lovely lady lifeguards (Carmen Electra ;D) so i will be saved from drowning! Or being rescued by a 5 year old

Keep going to swim lessons. I didn't learn how to swim until I was about 13 years old. Guys that grew up in the city know that swimming pools were not a common thing like the suburbs.
I'm still a poor swimmer but I now enjoy swimming pools and the ocean. At work they had me attend a 4 week boat course. At the end of the school was a swimming/life saving test. I knew I was in trouble. I run, bike and lift. I'm in great shape but I'm not a skilled swimmer. The test was a timed 150 yard swim. I took off in the pool with two other guys. They had effortless strokes while I looked like a man having a seizure. They passed me like I was standing still. I made it under the time but I nearly had a heart attack. Then they announced that the life saving part of the test was next. I passed, barely.
I think the first part of learning to swim is not to panic when your normal breathing is interrupted. When you're in the water sometimes you will hold you breath temporarily. You have to learn to enjoy your time in the water.

As it is not natural for your body to get any bigger and better........

Is that a movie about some salmon? ;D I know i was making excuses about not continuing. Thats the lazy side of me popping up I can't find a really solid reason NOT to continue, so i'll have to draw up another plan. Maybe not book some lessons like before, but go down the pool at the weekend with my lovely wifey to be. Keep practising like this until my confidence grows some more. Actually, this would fit in well with my current training plans. I intend on including 1-2 cardio sessions a week so this could fit in quite nicely.

good job Lux I was never good at swimming freestyle, but breast stroke was always my strong point. (I'm not joking)
