..but I can't help it! I just got back from a 11 day vacation in California with my wife and daughter. It was colder than it is here at home in Denver but was a great trip. I was all stressed out about not being able to eat enough or lift while I was gone, worrying I'd lose the 12 pounds I've gained... well I only lost about 2lbs so I'm really pleased- I'll get the 2 lbs packed ack on in no time. I worked out last night- chest. Doing legs today and I feel almost 110% of what I was feeling before I left so I guess it was a needed break. I don't know why I'm posting other than I am just feeling really good about everything and wanted to tell somebody- my wife is sick of hearing how good the gym is going so thought I'd dump on you guys! Mike

Hey, Mike. First, this is not a dumb post. This is a community and we are here for each other.
Great to hear you had a super vacation and things are going well in and out of the gym. Keep it going.
Nice to see posts unstressful like this, makes an old codger like me feel good!!
;D

Mike, glad to hear you had a good time. I have learned to relax on vacations and not to worry about working our or eating enough. Working out is life time thing and missing some occasional workouts won't do you or your progress in.
Depending on where I'm at, the wife and I will take walks. I also try not to over eat ( not always successful on that).
I'm having hip replacement surgery in January. I look forward to some R and R from the weights since I wil hit them hard the previous months. My concern is ballooning up from lack of weights and cardio and the holiday eating.

Its good to see you can break yourself away from the iron and enjoy some quality family time. It must be a drain on some of our friends and family when we always talk about training and diet. I seem to brainwash people into healthy eating and fitness after being in my company too often ;D Ive got a week off planned soon, i'll be struggling after at least 2 days into that week tho! I found one time that when i stopped training my legs for a couple of weeks, they had a growth spurt without any stimulation!

Just an update:
I think vacations are good. As of last night, I am up 3 lbs from where I was BEFORE my 10 days off.
Moral of the story- don't freak out about some occaisonal time off- it does a body good!

Your right Mike, don't freak out. It sounds like you need a little break. Nothing feels better then getting back into the groove. Good Job buddy!

Mike, for some reason, there will always be guys like you and me: Worrying we lose MUSCLE when our weight is down… and worrying we gain FAT when our weight is up ;D So like you said… we should stop to freak out with that! Moreover, when we lose weight after a week off… i think that it's often WATER weight so everything is going to be back in place in no time! In my mind, excepted if someone simply dosent eat, there is no significan muscle mass lost during a week off the gym! (Just think about the pre-contest week of a bodybuilder…. Often, there is no training during the 4-6 days before the show…)
And please Mike… dont dump on us very time your wife is sick of hearing you ;D

Why not, Mo? We all need somebody to listen to us sometimes. That is one of the great things about this forum.

Sorry, Mo. Was also kidding!! Figured you were having fun from that smilie!
And you're right, most people are totally clueless about the sport. There are so many dedicated and great people who participate in it (present company all included!). ;D
Tim or no Tim (where is he??), this is the place to be!
