I finished work early today so decided to pop down my local gym and sign up a membership. I think training at home alone has kind of stale and restrictive now so time to freshen things up.
I signed up at the right time as they have sold off 2 other gyms so they can put more money and focus into this one main gym. So that means over the next year there will be more improvements and more equipment
The girl on the desk started trying to give me the sales pitch and i had to keep stopping her and saying, "nope, no good to me cos i know what i'm doing". ;D She tried the idea of selling me a diet and i rolled off my tongue about 6-8 meals a day every 2-3 hours with an optimal macronutrient profile for putting my body in an anabolic state. Started saying about 35/45/20 splits blah blah blah. Nothing amazing but it soon shut her up ;D
I didn't even need a proper induction so decided to head inside for a back workout. I asked if she had any drinking water fountains in the gym but oh no, whats that in the corner of my eye? Ah, its bottled water for sale That answered my question.
I ended up straying away from my p/rr/s routine today and took advantage of using some new equipment. Resting 60 secs max and 8 reps per set for 15 total sets. Pulldowns, cable rows, 1 arm db rows and a set of pullovers to finish. But then i couldn't resist doing 3 sets of 14 reps of calf raises after that.
Oh yeah, the mirrors were definately my new friends today
So now i'm faced with more possibilities in my training. I'm reaping the rewards of p/rr/s but for some reason i'm just not feeling it. Maybe this introduction to the gym will reignite my fire for this routine. But now i'm in a gym how about doggcrapp? Or reverse pyramid? I'm feeling a rare case of DOMS in my delts today from the rep range sesh yesterday. I might push myself to finish this cycle of p/rr/s then switch up to something fresh
