LOL, YB! This is an intense time for your wife Jennifer, since she will be on stage in 11 days! Know you'll be ready with the tanning solution and oil ;D Rooting for Jennifer. Davana Medina will be tough to beat winning in NYC and Charlotte. But I know Jen will look stunning as always.

WELL, first off, I am flattered and touched that you care to know the rigors of my crazy days! It really means a lot to me, thanks everyone! It's you guys that help me get through all this insanity... Prep has actually been going incredibly well. My body has been respondning exactly as planned, and everything that I am doing seems to be working. I've been doing the same type of diet all season (carb cycling) and it has been a magic formula for me! I also have learned quite a bit about my body, such as I need tons of cardio for contest prep. I am up to 2.5 hours a day. I have been doing 2 hrs a day since the beginning of my season (April) and have gone as high as 3 hours ( ) Right now, my day looks like this: 5:30am wake 6:15-7:15 Cardio 9:00-1:00 Train clients 1:30-3:30 Lift/Cardio 4:00 Either train clients until 8pm, or run errands 8:00-8:30/9:00 MORE CARDIO.... 11:00 BEDTIME FINALLY! I have this routine down to a science. I honestly am able to pretty much go on auto pilot and get it done. I have come up with so many coping mechanisms to get through my days when I'm tired, nauseous, feeling like I'm gonna die, etc. I know that the only thing that matters is that I do the work, because on game day, that is the only thing that the judges care about. They don;t care that I was tired and didn't feel like doing cardio for a few days, or that I was just too hungry, and needed to eat those carbs. THey only care about how I look, and in order to look RIGHT, I need to make sure I get the work done. So I do. No matter what. WHEW!! That was quite the little tirade I just went on! But it is all true. This is what I do nowadays. WORK! DIET and TRAIN! Stuff of life kids!

I mean, we have one of the top… if not THE TOP figure athlete in the world on Weight on the Web… moreover you have great attitude… so dont be surprise if we care about your extraordinary total package! And thanks for taking the time to give comments about your contest prep… this is the kind of post that add so much value to a board like this one! 3 hours of cardio? That's gonna hurt! And i cant say that i understand you… i'm the kind of guy that dosent need to add cardio ( or just a few) in my contest prep! But my girlfriend did those crazy 3 hours a day for her last fitness contest… so i know how difficult it can be! Do you still plan on losing weight until contest day or is it only about maintaining your bodyweight? When do you plan on arriving in Las vegas? Do you have a couple of sponsor to help? (i opened the door so you can plug them ;D ) We are beind you jennifer! Mo

Intensity, That is really very sweet of you to say, you just made me feel very loved.... THANK YOU!! I appreciate this kind of support like you have no idea. It really helps me get through! I MEAN IT!!
As of right now, I am basically maintaining my weight. At a week and a half out, all that should be worried about is fine tuning. I've had to play catch-up before, and stress about losing a ton of weight last-minute, and THAT is never fun. It also makes for a stressful game day. I actually had to lose a little bit of muscle density from my last show, so I've been primarily focused on that. My body fat has remained low throughout my season from my first show, so it's been a matter of staying on point - maybe fluctuating only a couple of pounds.
I am getting to Vegas on Wednesday. There is so much that the athletes are involved with from rehearsals, to the press conference, and meet the Olympians seminar, that they wanted us there by Wed. afternoon. I can't believe thatit's only 1 WEEK AWAY!!! I can hardly contain myself!!!! As for sponsors, NONE to plug right now. I just left Prolab Nutrition aftewr being with them for a few years. I am currently a "free agent"...
BUT [glow=red,2,300]I will be hanging out and selling pics at the EUROPA BOOTH (hint hint everyone!) on Saturday. [/glow] I am really hoping that people come to visit me! Are you going??

I direct them to the site and You are their goal as to what they want to look like.In fact a couple of them have copied your pic and put it up on their refrig to remind them to eat Healthy. What target zone do you do your cardio in?Or does it vary? Could you please explain carb cycling?Your answer would mean a lot to my female clients coming from you!!!
Thank You Your Friend in Health and Fitness Vince Anello

Thanks Vince! Another post that has made my day, and made me stronger!!! Very good questions, and I do believe it is important to watch your heart rate when doing cardio. I used to check my heart rate every 5 minutes when doing cardio to make sure I was where I needed to be. It has gotten to the point where I hardly do it anymore, because I've done it so much that I can tell what it probably is by the way that I feel and how I'm breathing! My target zones differs, depending upon how much cardio I'm doing. There are probably many who will disagree, but I feel that you will burn the fat regardless of how "hard" you do your cardio, it just depends on the caloric deficit that you're creating for yourself. When I am in the off-season, I am only doing 45-60 minutes of cardio per day. I also am not trying to lose, but am trying to maintain. With that said, I do HIIT in order to burn as many calories as I can in the amount of time that I am doing the cardio. I will alternate between roughly 80% and 60%. When it comes time to drop weight, I find that I maximize calorie expenditure by doing more cardio. As I stated before, I have gone up to 3 hrs/ day, although I do 2 hrs/day for most of my prep. I have found that when I am doing that much cardio, I cannot possibly maintain any type of high intensity training, or else I completely burn out and get sick. SO I will drop my intensity WAY down, and exercise at a more steady pace - usually keeping my HR at around 65%. Even though I am going less intensely, it allows me to exercise MORE, therefore, I burn a higher number of total calories. As far as carb cycling, I will take in a lower amount for a few days, then bump it up for a day and so on. My 3 lower days are kept at the same amount of carb grams. I know that some people cycle different ways - some take in a different amount everyday, alternating between low-medium-high, and that works also. I have found the my way works for me very well, and I am MENTALLY used to it. That is a big player as well, you need to find what way your body likes AND your brain likes, or else you risk really falling off track. THIS IS GREAT EVERYONE! KEEP THE QUESTIONS COMING, I LOVE TO HELP!!

Thanks a lot Jennifer… thanks for being so available to help people and for sharing a bit of you exciting experience as a O competitor! And i'm sure everyone in here would agree...It's great to see how humble you remaind! It's sad… one of the top girls in the sport and she cant easily find sponsorssss… it prouves than we must do this for passion and not for money! Ok now here is a new bunch of questions ;D : When have you switch from fitness to figure? What are your feelings right now? Excited for sure, but tired? Scared? Hungry? ...I dont know how to say this in english, but, do you have "up and down" in you attitude right now? Can you tell us more about Tanning for a figure competitor at your level? (Tanning bed + Pro tan? How many coat? Stage tan? ) Ok i admit it… i'm asking that because i want to become the first male ever in pro figure ;D (i just imagined myself in high heels ) Oh and dont worry about having people to visit you at the Europa booth… i dont know why ;D , but i have a feeling that people wont hide from an athlete like you at expo ;D Let's go Jennifer… just one more week of pain before the reward! Mo

Mo Well, I am DEFINITELY hungry... no, STARVING is a better word! Although I do enjoy the tings that I can eat. The dieting is never what is difficult for me, it is the volume of traing (translation.. amount of cardio) I could eat like this all the time, I just get SO worn down from all of the training! I am also VERY excited! My excitement exceeds the bad times on most days, but I do have those days where I feel completely overwhelmed, and tired beyond words. There are days that I leterally feel like I am crawling around. I feel like it's a huge effort just to meet eye contact with someone. I HATE those days! It makes me feel so unfriendly and I hate that. Then I have days where I am so excited I can barely contain myself! As for the tanning, I usually tan in a tanning booth 2-3 times per week, and then use Protan and Jan Tana bronzer before the show. I have used dream tan in the past, but I know that most judges don't really like it, so I don't really use it anymore. I have found that a few thick coats of Protan, and a couple coats of the bronzer right before I go on stage works very well. OH, and the switch from fitness was prompted by my being constantly injured from learning to twist and turn my body into poses and flips that it just didn't want to do! I was trying to learn to be a gymnast, when my body was already set in its non-gymnast ways. Figure was a lot better suited to me. I really don't mind answering y'all's qestions, it is actually very fun for me, and helps me pass the time in between meals - it helps me to not think of food! So THANK YOU GUYS!

I am well protected, that's good to know - my hubby ROCKS...
Mo - I am taking a good long break after the O!!!!My original plan was to compete in the Arnold, but I need a longer break. I've been competing since last May, and dieting since last February (!!!), so my body desperately needs rest. I am looking VERY forward to being more normal for a while!
I really like everyone that I compete with, and have made some great friends through competing. I wouldn't say that there is any cattiness, although, that is MY opinion. If there is any, I don't see it. I think there is definitely healthy competition, but for the most part we are all friends. We all help each other back stage with whatever anyone else needs. If I need more Protan on my back, I know I can turn around and ask one of the other girls to help, and she gladly will, as I would for her. We really have a great time back there! As you know, sometimes at a competition you're back there (back stage) waiting forever with nothing to do but sit.... and wait! It's great that we all get along, because it really helps that time go by much faster... we all just sit and joke around... it actually can be a ton of fun.
As for a carb up/deplete, it really depends on what I look like. I've done both before. Although, I wouldn't say we do it to the extreme that a bodybuilder does, we definitely do manipulate our intake a bit.
Talk to y'all soon - gotta go lift!!!
