Some random thoughts 1.the internet buzz all day was saying it was Jay's show. Well it wasn't! Ronnie looked awesome. His body may be showing signs of aging however. His back was not as crisp as it was in 98,99, or 01 (arnold). But Ronnie's legs on the other hand have never looked better!! He deserved his win! 2. Jay looked totally ripped and shredded. His legs were somewhat down in size, which made me wonder why he won the "best wheels"?? But they were totally ripped! It was obvious that jay had put everything into this. His back was better then its ever been. Not only in width but in definition!! Not crisp like some others, but more ripped and seperated then ever before! 3. Gustavo Badell, a real threat, and must be taking seriously. He could lead the way of the new young guns. He is closing in on the kind of size Jay has, but still retained a flat waist, that he could even pull up. He also deserved 3rd. 4. Gunter. Really improved. At 300lbs he was totally ripped and shredded. Everything looked good, but he needs about 10 more ripped pounds to fill out that super impressive frame. 5. Victor Marinez. Victor looked awesome but 5th may have been generous. Not as ripped as say the GNC, and certainly not as ripped as the NOC. In fact I thought he looked better last year. But he was way improved over this years showings, perhaps thats what got him 5th? 6. Dennis James. One of my favorites. Super thick super ripped. Dennis is in my opinion of what a hardcore bodybuilder is all about! I would be happy with this placing except the adivisor was ignored for him. His waist was somewhat distended and unfortunately they didn;t send the message to him. I personally think Dennis should drop about 15-20lbs. I think he would look awesome and would be able to compete on aesthetics as well as pure mass and condition. 7. Melvin Anthony. The BEST he has ever looked. I could have seen him one or two places higher. He looked bigger then ever before and totally peeled. I love his shape and his posing routine was good as always. 8. Branch Warren. Awesome thighs and conditioining. He deserved his placings, but 9th would have been ok in my book. 9. Darrem Charles. His usual conditioned ripped self. He should have 5th! Super aesthetic and posed great. I would have had Darrem 5th, Melvin 6th, Victor 7th. 10. Mustafa Mohammed- A good call . He looked very good. Big big legs! His back was ripped and his posing routine was classical!. The challenge round Sucked! Gustavo won in a tie breaker against Ronnie? ? Also the production of the show was very bad and amatuerish. Lots and lots of technical difficulties. I felt really bad for the athletes. A lot of waiting around, and if anyone here has competed, you know that trying to keep you pump for 60-75 minutes by going on and off the stage is difficult. Not to mention that most of these guys where a wisker away from dehydration!!! As jay said back stage "they need to scrap this thing" (about the challenge round). For the Olympia, which is our sports crown jewel, this show was run like a backyard circus. This is a shame because of the hard work others have put into this show. They keep trying to spicen up this show, but they are turning it into a piece of unorganized crap. Return to the format that works. You want to sell tickets? add other types of events at the expo, like the Arnold has done. Or give this show over to Lormier to promote.

Excellent assessment, Steve. Ronnie looked awesome and did deserve his record tying 8th.
Also proud of Jay, looked more ripped than ever and made a super showing.
Glad that Branch got a top 10 in his first O. Surprises were Cormier and Ruhl out of top 10.
Looked like a really contentious show.

Thanks for the info and the pics Steve!
… I rent the PPV… the disappointing PPV and here is some highlight:
1- The visual aspect of the show was terrible! The camera angles for exemple: From the back when the guy hits an abs shot, too close to see the muscle, from too far or from the top… it was like the show was run by a team that doesnt know anything about bodybuilding
2- Wow… a total of 8 seconds of coverage has been given to figure and fitness!
3- I dont want to bash anybody, but Jay Cuttler was unprofessionnal in my opinion: criticize the show, the juges, Coleman and the challenge round on live televison + Looked disinterested + Didnt flex between the poses
4- Jay Cuttler was right ;D The challenge round is useless and illogical (Coleman lost a posedown agains Badell!)… and i exempt you from all the technical problems during this portion of the show!
4- Darrem Charles was overlooked
5- HHH was entertaining… he saved the show on many occasions!
6- Coleman… i'm not his biggest fan, but he was on the money!

From what I see, Ronnie certainly deserved it. His gut was down (maybe not gone, but certainly improving year by year), and his condition was on. His back detail wasn't as good as usual, but maybe that will come back next year. The show is what it is, forget the challenge round (though I liked it last year, this I haven't seen it yet), and just promote it as a BBing show. Sometimes you can't improve on the wheel, this freak show is exactly that- not improveable in the sense of what you can do onstage to make things more exciting.

In my opinion the shows production values ahve dipped since Demilia's been gone. They need to get back to the basics and hire a good promoter.

I was watching the PPV with a friend, and was telling him that all the internet buzz was about Cutler, and how he could win. Then Ronnie stepped out dressed as a king, and I thought "oh-well, guess the internet folks were wrong! he looked awesome!"

Jay looked as good as I've ever seen him. Actually I think Jay's back surpassed Ronnie's this year.
But there is no denying Ronnie's amazing overall look, and he just dominated the show.
Darrem Charles looked incredible and should have been higher.
