Question to anyone - What time (approx) do you get to sleep at night? ....and someone give me tips besides sleeping pills on how to get to sleep early!! lol. I find it difficult to fall asleep early, im hoping this will change in the next few weeks as i go to the gym more and more and become tired through exercise. Although the past few weeks i have been taking my dog for 40 to 1 hour minute walks in the evening, when i get home im tired but still i lay awake. Im never asleep before 12:30am, and this is even with going to bed by 10pm!! I just find im tossing and turning for hours and the more i cant sleep the more frustrated i get... leaving me awake even longer, its a choir lol. So any tips, drink remedies etc, im willing to try (just about) anything!!

Chris, i know it could frustrate you even more but…… sometimes, i fall asleep before my head touchs the pillow ;D I'm a big sleeper, so it's very easy for me to fall asleep, but that also involve some problems: If i dont sleep for at least 8 hours each night… i'll be in a bad mood all the day after! During the week end, i sleep so much, that some say that i'm in hibernation ;D
In my mind, if you want to fall asleep more easily, you must RELAX and forget about the fact that you dont sleep and that you are frustrated ;D : Look for infos about relaxation music, breathing or muscle contracting technics that are benefic for relaxation! (I'll ask my girlfriend for their names… she suggests this to some athletes she fallows).
If you are the kinds of guy that think too much when you try to sleep, try to write things on a paper to clear you mind before going to bed!
Hope it can help!
Mo

Thanks for rubbing it in that you find falling alseep so easy Mo!! lol. Im the same on weekends, i still dont get asleep until around the same time but at least then i can sleep in until whatever time i feel and get my 8+ hours. But Mon to Fri i work and have to be up by 7:30 at the latest. So im lucky if i get up to 7 hours sleep a night, sometimes its as bad as 5 and a half a night! Writing might be a good way to go actually, i never thought of that. Maybe watching the tv in the evenings when i come back from taking my dog for a walk is leading my mind too active, if that makes sense. Ill try that out, or going for a 5 hour walk to get real tired, lol.

The first thing I tell people is that you HAVE TO set up a sleep schedule!!! It's imperative to your sleep success!!! Your not falling asleep till 12:30 each night because that's what time your body is used to shutting down. I get up at 5am to work, and even on my day off I'm up at 5:30am- so much for sleeping in!!!! So, always try to get up at the same time, and fall asleep at the same time. This is the most important thing you can possibly do for yourself regarding sleep. I can't stress it enough. When you go out a bit later, you'll start to adapt to that schedule, so when you try to go to sleep at your normal time your can't because your already adapting to the "new" schedule. This happens to me all the time. I'll also do gigs starting at 9:30pm, when my usual bed time is 9pm. So, when the first set is starting, I'm already yawning and needing a serious dose of ZZZZ's. If that trick doesnt' work, rub one out and that should do the trick!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D

YB is right. Several have told me that it is very important to keep your body on a definite sleep schedule.
A guy I know swears by melatonin. It is available over the counter, and he says it helps a lot. He takes a tablet about 90 minutes or so before getting to bed and he gets to sleep quickly and soundly.

I've taken Melatonin before, and once I wake up I notice that I seem hungover!!! I never really thought melatonin helped me much on getting to sleep, but the deepness of sleep yes. My roommate had his doctor tell him it was okay to take up to 30mg of the stuff. Now if I remember correctly, most of those tablets come in 3mcg, right? That's a helluva lot of anything let alone something that may not allow me to sleep forever again!!!!

I used to do: Melatonin Velarian root ZMA 5 HTP (Which wakes you up in about 5 hours of sleep and you are wide awake) + Sleepy tea. Now, NOTHING. Maybe some sleepy tea

I got a pretty good sleep last night..... not that i did anything different, i think i was just so damn tired my body gave up the fight and let me sleep, lol.
Ive thought about taking sleeping pills but ive heard from alot of people that even though you fall asleep right away, when you wake up you still feel as tired as when you fell asleep.
That kind of defeats the purpose IMO so id rather try a different way before i resort to that.

Well, this thread jinxed me!!!! Last night, I went out to do a gig, then I was talking to someone on the phone once I got back at 2am. So, I try to fall asleep, and I was just tossin' and turnin' (name that song Tim, who did it?) for about 2 hours. Constantly yawning, and I had a MASSIVE headache. I finally got up and took some aspirin- something I rarely do. But I was able to fall asleep around 3:30-4am. Now it's 8am and I'm up. I'm screwed come the next few nights and days as far as catching up on sleep and feeling frisky throughout the day. bast*rds, each and every one of you....you jinxed me!!!
