Two shots of AAU Mr. America,Mr. North America, and Mr. USA,Joe Deangelis. In the first pic he looks great....second pic,not so good at all!! How anyone can sacrifice an awesome build like Joe had, just to get bigger if this is the end result is beyond me !! #akicksballs2hu#

Sad to see this with anyone. But I have known Joe and his dad for several years. I was at Joe's wedding and he looked much better back then.
Have seen shows with middlewt and light heavy competitors showing distensions. This must stop!

Can't say for sure, but it looks like there might be some synthol in those arms and delts too. It's a real shame.....the way he looked in the first pic is pretty damn close to the ideal. Doing all of the "extra" stuff really got him far now didn't it? Never heard of him after the 3 shows Tim mentioned...I wonder if he thinks it was worth it......whatever it may have cost him in health and money!?

I didn`t mean to single out Joe in particular, but I saw the pics on another board and it was a great illustration of the idiocy that is being called progress nowadays. Joe is now running a very successful tanning salon in California last I heard. He ruined a great physique IMO.

Layne,I was competing in the NPC Northeast Tournament Of Champions in New Hampshire a few years back, and there were two huge national level competitors who looked awesome, conditioning wise anyway. Anyway, from the wings of the stage, watching these two guys pose, when they turned to hit a back latspread their waists just literally expanded.............looked horrendous. The contest was won by lifetime natural, 154 pounder, Paul Thompson. Paul has also placed very high in NPC untested national events. The looks on those two guys faces with the guts was priceless.........they literally looked stunned!! They should mark down all these guys, at all the contests.............maybe then it would cease to happen!

My wife refers to this look as "the pod belly".
Do those guys actually think that this looks good? Does anybody think this looks good? In my opinion bodybuilding has gotten too far away from where it was supposed to be.

We're definitely sharing some brain waves, mrky. Like Tim and others said, competitors going on stage like that should be marked down. It's counterporductive to what the sport should be about!
