Starting weight 169 Height 5'8" Starting bodyfat 12% average macros high: 230p, 200c, 35f average macros low: 230p, 50c, 45-50f It's been exactly one month since I started a journal and I need a sanity check on my progress. According to my calipers my body fat is 1% lower since April. My weight however is still at 169-170. This may sound really stupid but I want to lose weight not gain weight. From the mirror I feel like I have 10lbs to lose. Can someone make some suggestions for workouts, diet, cardio, etc. Here is a link to my journal which has my diet and workouts: timwescott.proboards18.com/index.cgi?board=gaining&action=display&thread=1145326185

If your bodyfat is lower, and your weight is higher (even if by one % or one pound), that's a good thing. Your gaining muscle. It's the old "muscle replacing fat" theory. In a month and a half time, that's pretty good- it's not a contest diet is it? If it's not, keep doing what your doing. You may not think it's fast enough, but remember..."the faster it comes off, the faster it will come back."

The more muscle you have on your body , the more calories you will burn at rest. Continue gaining muscle. It makes losing fat much easier.

Your changing your body composition, like YB and Randy said, not a bad thing.
The only way to lose muscle size is by not training so your muscles atrophy.
It`s getting late and I`m hitting the hay in a while, but I`ll check out your diet and training and see if I can make suggestions on how to change things for you.
More cardio, less protein, and removal of compound exercises might be a good start, but I`ll know more when I look at it more thouroughly.

George, i think you are on the right track... and this "lose fat" + "gain muscles" situation wont keep going for long! When you start training and dieting seriously like you did, you may experiment (lucky you) this situation... but after a couples of weeks (months?) your body will only burn fat and not gain much muscle on a plan like you have! PS: It's bizarre how a lot of women dont want her husband to gain muscle mass... but they make nice comments about those guys on tv with an athletic-muscular shape Mo

Thats true Mo. I am just going to keep going on this plan. I tend to freak out every other week.
