Does anybody else get insane and uncontrollable cravings to cheat during the last week of contest prep?
I`m as strict as I can be during my entire diet, but during the last week,I feel like pigging out bigtime.
Don`t know if it`s because I`m dwelling on my post contest feeding frenzy or not,but it happens to me in almost all the contests I prep for.
It`s driving me nuts!!!!!!!!!!!!! #bheadbangsmiley7rd#

I can't even think during that last week. Carb depletion pretty much keeps my head messed up enough that I am just too zoned out. Then by the time carb up comes, and sweet potato tastes like candy, I am good to go. Diet is the easy part for me. I do not have any cheat meals during prep. I think if I did, that would give me more reason to crave crap foods.

Tim, honestly, I get somewhat depressed during tha tlast week. I think it's because the whole process is over and the process is what I enjoy the most. You can't train hard that last week, or you're not supposed to, no carbs. All you do is think about the stage and like you said your post comp feeding frenzy. THe last week is not the hardest for me. THe hardest weeks for me are between 2 and 4 weeks out because I'm thinking, F, I've got 3 more weeks and I'm starting to get HUNGRY and tired and sick of ONLY being able to eat said amt of food. I weigh my food year round, but those weeks are my bigest struggles.

Funnily enough I don't. My brain is so tired and bored of eating chicken and broccoli that it just runs on autopilot that entire week, just to get through it. Plus all I want to do is sleep.

Tim the last week I have no problem. I'm like hoss, at about 4 weeks out I have the hardest time and when it's the last week or two you can put the food I desire most and I will not touch it.
I've also discussed what happens after the show. LOL
Hang in there bro you can do it.

Thanks Joe....I`m carbing up a bit and drinking water like it`s going out of style, both of which seem to be helping to combat the cravings.
Won`t be long now. #amuscleman4dx#

does your gut feel bloated Tim. When I do that, which is a must that last week, by the end of the night I feel like Jabba the Gut.
But I'm full LOL #drool3xm#

I`m as strict as I can be during my entire diet, but during the last week,I feel like pigging out bigtime. Tim, as you know I don't compete. But I'll happily offer my two cents in here. The above quote, is exactly WHY your craving horrible "non-contest" food. If you were to wet your tongue with just a measily teaspoon of Haagan-Das ice cream daily (maybe 20cals?), or have one small fork or two size of pizza, you'd satisfy your taste for those foods. The ingrediants will blow you up with bloated waterballon like stature- but only if you binge on it. If you have a small amount, something harmless like the amounts I gave above, then you'll lose the water the next time you pee. Or the next workout, or having sex. Point is, don't starve yourself. If you do, your body does the exact opposite of what it wants to, and tells you to binge.

Justin, you`re more than likely right, but the trouble with me is,if I eat one cookie,I`m gonna` want the whole bag!! Being "old school",cheating on the diet borders on being sacriligous!! If you place badly, whether it was from that spoonful of ice cream or not, you`re always gonna` think how you might have placed if you didn`t eat it.

Seems like I normally hit the bathroom much more often that I did today, although I have had to go a lot.....but looks like I`m still holding onto some water. One more day and a half to lose it................I think I can do it,gonna` try like hell anyway.

I'm also in the club of those who think that it's more difficult at 4 weeks out! During the last week, i'm excited about the up coming show so i dont think too much about cheat foods… but 4 weeks out, when there is no contest excitement, and i know there is still a long way to go, i find it more difficult!
Even if i believe in what Youngblood said about the small amount of cheat food… i also believe that it would hurt me mentally to know i've not been harcore to the limit! I know it's not a good reason… but i like to think i did it the hard way ;D

Hey Tim, Aaron here...
Have you thought about adding some good fats to your intake? This may help level out your blood sugar levels some and keep you from getting those cravings.

Yes, Tim. The cravings drive me nuts. My show is tomorrow and yesterday I had the worst cravings. Food I don't even like seemed gourmet. I just kept thinking that in 2 more days I'll be good to go and "don't blow it now!" Then, at the end of my shift yesterday the Chief of Staff of the hospital brings a bunch of pizzas to the ER for everybody! The smell was so good I couldn't leave work fast enough. Then I ate my plain chicken breast on the way home #drool3xm# I've considered the fat thing, Aaron, and I just don't do well with fat. I tried higher good fats early on in my prep and didn't have very good results. Good luck this weekend, Tim. I'm sure I'll be thinking about you tomorrow at my show (what would Tim do right now?) #goodlucksmiley0jv#

Mo, I agree my man. I don't care if the "small" amt of cheat food won't hurt. If I took even just one cheat food at a small amt and got less than 1st place I'd be so pissed at myself. Once contest diet starts it's balls out for 12-14 weeks.

At about the two week out mark is when all of my cravings go completely away and I don't think about junk food again until after the show.

I am in the same boat with bodyfx. At two weeks and closer I have little to no cravings at all.
The 4-2 weeks seem the hardest and I do have the occasional cookie or something but that is only until about 5-6 weeks out. Then it's completely clean. I use the small amount of 'junk' just prior to my workout and it mentally fuels me just a little more.
Would I be better off just having that protein shake without the cookie - sure but if it keeps my sanity just a little longer so be it.
Those last few weeks when I am not having any other little item I do envision eating a roll of raw cookie dough right out of the grocers dairy cabinet as I plug along on the treadmill though. ;D
