Well I guess the winner is no surprise! Will be interesting to hear what Mark has to say in the next few days..I wonder how the diuretic testing impacting on the conditioning of the athletes or if it had any impact at all?

I also thought Vince taylor was supposed to be in this division?
Maybe someone could elaborate.

Sal Vince Taylor dropped out a long time ago......I think he "guest posed" at the IFBB North Americas. As far as Jack goes,he placed 18th.

If vince did guest pose I wish they would have said so. I didn't see one mention for who was going to be there. I did George Faraha (sp?) in the audience but that was it.
May have considered going to the finals if Vince was going to be there.

From what i see, there is not a lot of well known IFBB athletes that took the risk of competing with the new organisation… but i know how politic goes into bodybuilding so i cant blame them… At least, competition between major organisations is a good thing, so let's hope we'll have many more PDI shows of this quality in the future...
Now what's going to be interesting to see, is how the IFBB will judge Priest...

Jack looked good, but needed to be tighter in the back. he may have been holding water. This was his pro debut so he has nowhere to go but up, and he will.
Vince signed for the NA guest pose a couple months ago. Looks like he never intended to compete.
Lee was incredible doing his Superman routine. IFBB will try to ban him, but he will probably show up at the Olympia anyway (he is qualified).
The foreign competitors were very good (actually, none of the top 6 was an American citizen). All in all there was good quality, and looking for next year to be even better.
Bill Pearl and Dan Lurie were in attendance, and seeing those two legends in the sport made it worthwhile.

Thanks for the info Gerry. It does seem there are a lot more foreign BB's that are at least noteworthy than American BB's. I'm not saying that the US doesn't produce the best in the sport, I just think if you look at the amount of "upper level" guys you would find a larger number for other countries. Maybe it has something to do with the supps that are more readily available? Who knows, I could be WAY off base with that statement it just seems that way to me.

I think there is still alot of politics involved particularly in the US with regards to the control the IFBB has in the sport. Alot of athletes may be 'afraid' to jump ship for fear of retribution but for the guys outside the US it gives them more opportunity than before because the control is much less. I know there are loads of guys down this end of the wrold that would be interested in going pro but with the way things are currently very few get the opportunity. PDI may be a good option for them in the future because it does not place restrictions on them the way IFBB does.
